hey guys. well im new to the whole windows/gaming pc scene so i want to get some insight on something. ive been a long time mac user so my most of my knowledge has come over the last couple of days since ive decided i wanted a gaming pc. Well i found a great deal on a m17x and it has everything i want except for a ssd setup. its currently setup in a raid 0 format 2x 500gb hdd's. now here is my question. what do i have to do to install the ssd and change the raid setup? what connection do i need on the ssd msata???? also i read somewhere that people put the main ssd in the secondary slot and put the old hdd in the primary spot and change a setting in the bios? because the comp has trouble reading the ssd when its in the primary bay. if i sound like a complete idiot i am sorry, this is all just so new to me. any information i would greatly appreciate. thanks

If your system already has RAID HDD's, then it's a lot easier for you. No BIOS adjustments are going to be necessary.

*Refer to the instructional video below for further assistance!

    1. Remove the battery, open the back panel, remove the HDD's - carefully!
    2. Install the SSD's in place of the HDD's - once again, carefully!
    3. Reinstall everything (battery, cover, etc.) and boot up the PC. It will show a screen showing both SSD's, hit "CTRL + I" as soon as you see it (Intel RST Screen).
    4. Select "create RAID volume", and set it up from there. You'll want to choose RAID 0, 128KB stripe, and name the volume.
    5. Install windows as you normally would, or restore Windows with disc(s)/USB.

Here's a video that may assist you: Alienware M17x R4 Teardown - Removing the hard drives - YouTube

This process is actually very simple. Just be patient, don't rush. The M17x is very easy to upgrade.
