Hi guys, I am trying to overclock my Core i5 520m to squeeze out as much power as possible to match it with my 5870m crossfire. So far I've successfully OC'd using Setfsb to 3.5ghz on single thread application (159 x 22 turbo multiplier).

My question now is do I need throttlestop to get the max performance? I would prefer to run at 20 multiplier as much as possible for both cores but I'm confused about the TPL option. Right now the TDP (W) is at 30, TDC (A) is at 50. Should I change those values, and if so what should they be but remain safe?

I checked my desktop core i7 920 and its TPL is 130/110 respectively, but I know desktop parts have much higher power draw so I don't want to be anything near that...

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated, basically I want to know how my chip compares now that it has been overclocked. It can do about 3.2 - 3.5ghz, can I get anymore out of this chip? Thanks in advance

p.s forgot the temps, it idles at 38/42 degrees Celcius, and max right now is 77/82. Thanks!

Sorry to crush your dream, but the 520 has locked multipliers. So you can't play with that. I think TDP May be locked too. If you can adjust it just set it to 70w TDP and run vantage cpu tests and see if your score increased. I don't think it will though. I have a 520 and bencher it extensively. Don't think throttle stop was any use. Also check the bios link in my Sig if you don't have the modded A10 bios

I understand about the multiplier, correct me if I'm wrong but they are by default 18, dual core turbo is 20, single core turbo is 22 right?

I don't want to change the multiplier, I just want to know if I can use throttlestop to keep the multiplier as high as possible. I.E constant 20x through changing the TDP/TDC.

And I haven't flash to the modded bios yet because for now it only allows 5% overclock, which I can use Setfsb to OC much higher. There are many features that I do not need/know how to tweak in the modded bios so I will wait awhile.

Is it safe to use 70 though? Isn't that the watt? The chip's maximum watt is 35 right so wouldn't that be beyond the design limit? Sorry I'm really new to this so any explanation is appreciated, thanks!
