Hey, I just got my M17x R4 last week with the i7-3610QM and the 7970m and I was wondering if my idle temps are a little high or they are normal and nothing to worry about.
As I am typing this, according to CPU-ID my temps are high 40s (46C-48C) to low 50s (53C-55C).

Ok sounds good, I didn't think it was that off or even at all because when I play games it only goes up a couple degrees.

yeah mine on idle is usually 52 c i was concerned too, then I found this lol

Full load and gaming ?
75/80celsius cpu/GPU ? -
my 580m is idling at 59c right now. That seems a little high, most of the time it idles in the low 50's. Then again, my 580m always runs really hot.
While gaming, I hit 63-64c... sometimes lower. As long as the back of the laptop is ventilated, it will never go above 65c -
65c is very good for GPU. And cpu?

The GPU could go up to 90c as Max before crashing; I have seen CPU's reaching ~75c, not normal at all but it wont crash.
Example:
Intel Core i7-2630QM has a maximum heat mark on the 100c
Hope I helped out a little -
those are pretty low temps, my current gpu (need repaste badly) idles at 70-ish and goes way up to 106 on load.
btw not an alienware and hd5870m GPU, and i already evicted most of the dust bunnies. -
What programs are you guys using to check CPU tems? MSI afterburner seems to work very well for GPU, on desk top I usually use core temp but I'm not sure about core temp for my laptop, it says 0 for watts in the power section but then gives temps of 45 - 59c. I just wonder if its correctly supports Ivy bridge.
