Doubt the Verde crash bug for us 280M owners (Flash/WMV) has been fixed though. -

i did play ~1h30 of Prince of Persia TFS with no problems, scrolled large .pdf files, surfed different web pages including flash based ones, played some videos etc.
Fans are less noisy(feels good),hello again 60Hz. Looks good for now.
So until now no issues as before,no BSODs no freezes! Hopefully these are the ones.
Will bench with them and do more testing to be sure tomorrow! -
i hope this one works well, ill be testing it also. currently im using the modified driver for the m17x r1 and works liek a charm. Im curious how this driver will be
-
R1 - DPC latency seems to be up again with moderate spike (2700) every 30 seconds. No issue for audio/video though. Can anyone confirm?
EDIT: after second reboot, DPC spikes goneconfused
. Tested Crysis + FC2 benchmark. Seems to be a bit slower. Crysis becomes unplayable at times when using same settings as 260.99 driver. No system crashes though. Seems like I have the choice to a better but more unstable 260.99 and this one.
EDIT2: Forget about Crysis issue. Reverted to 260.99 -> crash. Seems to be that the game is causing the issue (low performance reported by many in section of level 'Awakenings'.
DPC was something weird. Culprit driver seemed to be the WiFi driver (Broadcom 1510). DPC spikes went away when disabling this one. Installed driver from Dell site (used default Win 7 one). Solved. Man, the R1 gives you hours and hours of installing driver combinations, phew. -
Okay, so I should Install this Beta, the Dell recommended Driver or keep Verde 260.99(Which is the one that I already installed)
I'm confused, please help.
I've had random lockups happening with Outlook open, and Internet Explorer, not really any locking up happening in gaming. -
I've been using this drivers for about 15 hours now (gaming, iTunes and firefox mostly) and I've had no random lockups.
I think these are the best Verde drivers yet, at least for M17xR1 users.

Thx and + Rep for the link
-
I installed this one to give it a go, haven't had an issue yet vs. 260.99 where I was crashing doing anything. Gonna keep this one installed until I start seeing problems...
-
So far so good with this Beta Driver, no lockups since I installed it this morning...I did a restart after the install, as there was some flickering immediately after I installed it, but after the restart it's been smooth, I do a lot of multitasking, switching a ton between Outlook, IE, Quickbooks, and My Database (FileMaker Pro), and it's been smooth as silk.
-
Anyone with a M17xR2 & 285m SLI tried this runing 260.99 atm?
-
I had one crash where the screen got all screen and distorted like the vsync on a old tv got really screwed up. After restart no problems... This was after about 4 hours of random browsing(youtube and flash)/wow alt tabbing.
Just had a random driver restart while looking at a youtube video fullscreen... =( -

Be sure to clean your old drivers properly first!
Ok so since yesterday no issue at all maximum DPC value @823μs but extremely rare the whole day while performing various tasks. These are a keeper for the R1! -
same so far nothing wrong so far
-
That's good to hear guys. A lot of times it's the little things such as background programs and software that causes these crashes. The best way to tell is to kill all background tasks and enable each one at a time. There were many times where I've seen stuff like Everest lock up an entire computer without reason...
And as katalin_2003 said, make sure your system is clean! -
I had two crashes where the screen got all screen
and one hard crash were the laptop died on me in the last 24h
-
Ruined mine (R1). I uninstalled properly, ran Driver Sweeper in safe mode and CCleaner, installed the 266.35's and the machine slowed to a crawl. 10 full minutes for a restart.
I uninstalled them but Driver sweeper just crashes now even with a fresh download and install.
I've gone back to 195.62 (which worked flawlessly for 8 months) but it's still crawling.
Games are fine as is my connection speed but anything to do with windows or browsing takes forever and it often hangs on shut down.
Not a happy bunny! -
i still get some random freezes with this driver but lesser than previous versions
-
No freezes yet, only problems I have had are with Quickbooks, and that's normal for that program.
I gamed last night with RE5, COD Black Ops, and Dirt 2, and everything was flawless. -
This driver works great for my m17xR1 with 260m! I these are alot more stable than the 258.69-260.99 drivers that are out and I even tried games that always crashed when I played them on those drivers like GTA4 and Crysis and they run great with no BSOD yet!
The only problem that I have seen was that in Crysis that there was random slowdowns to where I got to less than 10fps, but other than that I'm really happy with these drivers. -

In the end I did a System Restore from a week before I loaded those drivers and now it's flying again. It was definitely related to the driver upgrade, maybe something crucial got corrupted during the process? -
Don't use any of the Alienware apps anymore, no OSD, no Command Centre. -
I also do not run any Alienware apps, I only have about 3 'essentials' in my start-up. -
Still random crashes with black screen (browser flash video), and fps drops (as opposed to crashes in 260) in games, although better than 260 . Still not there, nvidia. Anyhow, I wonder whether new drivers make a difference for our 'old' GPU's, except than maybe for profiles for new games.
-
What idle temps are the R2 owners with 285m SLI. Mine is
GPU 1 - 43c
GPU 2 - 40c
But i'm noticing the fans are on more and a little louder -
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
^^louder compared to what version?
-
GPU1 - 41c
GPU2 - 37c
When playing a game (let's say, Crysis):
GPU1 - 50-53c
GPU2 - 50-54c -
Any WOW player with 280M R1 using these ? Maybe some comments before I try them out
-
-
yea there is some typical problems still but its getting better i guess. I'm switiching back to the modded ones as well
-
I admit, they lasted A LOT longer then the 260.99 Drivers did, the issue is getting better. Not quite there yet, but better.
-
The drivers were working fine for a few days but then all of a sudden, they started acting just like the 258.69-260.99 drivers, GSOD, BSOD, and monitor going black randomly. I'm going back to drivers that have good performance and good reliability, the 197.16 drivers.
I was wondering if you could please tell me where I could find the modded drivers because those sound interesting and I want to see if I like them -
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
I experienced my first black screen with normal sound while playing a movie
Things are getting better but not perfect! -
-
is it normal for m17x r1, dual coe t9600 4gig ram 500gig hdd dual 280m sli
to run crysis at high on 30fps? and lots of lagness at metro 2033 very high? -
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
With this version(266.35)? Yes
i played Metro 2033 when it came out with the 197.84 beta with very good performance. -
its the same for me on this and 197.52 drivers.
and im on 1440x900 resolution... so i dont think its good.
cuz my friend whos desktop afew years ago only dual core, 2gig ram at 666mhz and single 9600gt could max out metro 2033. wats with that? -
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
Read above!! Stay away from the Verde drivers install the beta ones on DELLs site called 197.84 and you will also be able to max out Metro2033(even play it on DX10) and more other games out there.
Just be sure to clean your previous drivers properly before installing these! -
u can max out metro on that driver? gona try it.
i cant on 197.52. well as in very laggy when outside, have smoke and alot shooting
edit: nah still the same laggy i tried. anyway gona call dell to ask for a replacement sick of all these lag issues. been trying to solve these since last year march -
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
then my friend you definitely have other problems or something you're missing.
-
hi i need to update these vga divers and im wondering what i need to go with b/c the drivers i have and the ones on dell support site are the same and i just tried to play WoW and it kinda froze up i guess not sure i tried to log in and it froze on connecting
im useing 192.52 drivers for 285m sli atm m17x not even 2 days old -
Ace -- good luck with WoW. I've got it running somewhat stable now using a trick I saw on one of the WoW forums whereby I forced the game to run on two cores by editing the config. If I can find the site with the info I will post it here. It makes it so you can't choose the highest graphics settings, although it isn't all that noticeable. This machine is very inconsistent -- some people have a golden one, and others have lemons.
-
it runs i just realized my firewall was popping up lol im such a noob but it runs fine
btw soon as i got in i set it on ultra and runs like a top although there still is some server lag only b/c of my server which is stormrage so stormwind is jam packed with ppl -
gonna stick with 192.52 just tried 260.99 and it was crash city
anyone know if 266.35 is any better?
