    Here we go again,

    EDIT:
I've deleted the link since I am seeing more and more reports of windows getting messed up requiring a system restore. No laptop reports but I don't like hosting a link to something that may break your machine.

    https://forums.geforce.com/default/...eedback-thread-9-18-14-/post/4318691/#4318691

If you want to try it you can get it directly from NV or through Gforce Experience.

Good luck everyone, this is the base release for the new 9xx cards as well.

Please post any results, good or bad ;)

EDIT 2. Far too many Fermi cards (580m/675m) are failing with this driver. Desktops as well. Do not use on older cards!

Not benched it yet but GFE Express install worked fine, just remember to unload any monitoring/overclocking utilities before you start.

First problem for me: Shadowplay and gamestream say I need an i3 minimum . This was the case a few versions ago and the shortcut workaround works to get it going.

Thanks for sharing the driver and feedback, I'll try it in one of our machines and let you all know any feedback we may have.

Sure thing, that would be good :).

BTW NV have pushed out a silent update to GFE and now the GPU's are listed as OK for Shadowplay.

I run the driver through all my usual tests and numbers were almost exactly the same as the last release. Guess we are all waiting for the 980m now they have official support at NV ;)

I updated to these drivers last night. Everything went fine. Later I shut down and went to sleep. Today when I started up the computer, Windows did not start and I got a BSOD. I fortunately was able to get back up into Windows the second time. I have not restarted Windows yet again but when it's up in Windows the system seems stable. I have a 780M and I did NOT do a clean installation. I think I'm going to do a system restore to put my system back to a stable state :-(

Hi, might have been a one-off hopefully but a clean install is easy enough ;).

Let us know how it goes.

Possibly. I did a system restore, which rolled back the drivers. Windows is stable again. However, with the latest GeForce Experience software, I'm getting an error when closing it. Not sure what's up with that. I suppose I can try reinstalling just GeForce Experience...

I've had a few oddities already. logging off and back on clears it up but I'm not seeing a patten yet. Give it a go, it did get an update at some point...

Going through NVIDIA's forums, apparently several, if not more, are having BSOD and other problems with these drivers. My personal advice would be to stay away from these drivers if you don't absolutely need them.

Thanks, I've been watching them and it seems to be the same old faces having issues. No pattern emerging yet, my card is slightly less 'OC'able' on this driver so it is pushing a little harder.

No improvements though so if your machine is operating fine then give this one a miss ;).

Tested these latest drivers vs the previous whql (340.52), and saw improvements in a number of games: 3% increase in Tomb Raider benchmark, 2% increase in Metro Last Light benchmark (non-Redux version), and finally a 3% increase in F1 2012. All other tests were the same (Firestrike, Batman Arkham City, Batman Arkham Origins). So, good drivers for me, no issues encountered so far.

    Nvidia just released 344.16
    no apparent changes
added support for newly released GTX 970, it had some compatbility issues with 344.11
though i dont see it on the geforce experience
probably wont be coming for us laptop users

Yeah, I noticed that, typical release date and be dam*ed for this WHQL. They do have some way to silently push updates though. I reported that the CPU requirements were messed up again. Told me to run experience and check for updates. Never saw anything happen but it fixed the Shadowplay problem

I checked g force experience and it says my 340.52 driver is up to date. But if I go to nvidia website and check for latest drivers for 770m Wich I have is say 344.16 . What's up with that.

NV's first flagship driver (this one) failed again to meet expectations. They rushed out a beta (344.16) but claim it is only for 9xx cards. I see what you are saying but do you have GFE set to get beta's as well?

Yep to test if the 3D Vision bug was part of the fix/ "gtx 970 compatibility issues", of course not :) Still, that is the original nv_dispe.inf (v344.16), only 980/970 are listed.

Oh well, you have to hope. I never realised that the 8xx never got to a desktop version?? No driver at all listed for that lineup - but of course that does not matter usually. Guess we are going to see a quick and silent funeral for the 880m.

What is the bug you mention for 3D vision?

This is the ridiculous bug description.

    Windows 8.1 Open Issues

    • [3DVision]: While playing a stereoscopic 3D video :hi2: with stereoscopic 3D enabled, the
monitor refresh rate switches to 60 Hz after changing the resolution using the
      Windows control panel. [1314811]
They missed random blank screens or when setting custom refresh rates (always), 120Hz reverts to 60Hz upon restart. Several brands 3D Vision monitors blank screen...'while playing 3D video' :D
These issues are very similar to the 680M/3D Vision bug that was fixed with v326.01 (Win8.1 release driver) , not a " vBIOS fix" as we were told.

Ah, I remember now. Would've thought it would not be tricky to find and fix.

Do you have 3d vision working on your R4/780m?

I have noticed that a lot of games now exit without a full card reset so the display is left in 'game' mode without any brightness control. I run the 3D test in the CP to clear it up

If it started with v340.43 then it's not a coincidence, v337.88 is the latest 'good' driver.

Yes from the beginning 980/970 specific...

    [Strings]
DiskID1 = "NVIDIA Windows (64 bit) Driver Library Installation Disk 1"
    NVIDIA_DEV.13C0 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980"
    NVIDIA_DEV.13C2 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970"

@jameslee3978 post HERE, last time very few (2) took the time to actually do something about it. Pretty much the same attitude, comfortably waiting... :) or maybe users are mistaking blank screens, some sort of power saving mode The Big Lebowski... :D

Looks like you nailed it. All I see are desktop problems but it's just crazy problems up to and including multiple reports of windows not booting after a failed install!

No mobile chip problems reported but since it offers zero performance benefits avoid.

Fair do's - different systems respond in different ways to new drivers it seems. You wouldn't really expect that though, say between my Kepler GPU and your 680M, but I guess it can get pretty system specific when you talk about small gains in performance from one driver to the next.

You're probably going to have to ask this over in the NV forum thread ( https://forums.geforce.com/default/...-whql-display-driver-feedback-thread-9-18-14-) - and hope for a reply.

I see three Fable III profiles and Fable the Lost Chapters, maybe one of those will help if you do not have them listed...

Anyone playing Dead Rising 3 ? I'm looking forward for this driver since the Dev team said that it will fix some major crashed and known bug which I experienced in my system that the game randomly crashed into desktop randomly every 20-30 minutes gameplay. But after read the page 1 today, maybe I should reconsider before updating it. It's really true that the problem only affect the desktop ? it is safe for me to update it ? Since I can't update through GFE because I need the .inf file first.

Really hope that someone here who play the same game give me the review about if this driver version really eliminate all of this crash :D I mean crashing to desktop every 20-30 minutes for me is unplayable..... :(

Hi, as I said I've only seen some desktop problems, and it seems more on win8. Since you've already got issues I'd be inclined to give it a try, but hopefully someone that plays this game can comment...

    All sweet on my win7/680m R4 :D

Hi Micky, it will crash eventually...... :D Just kidding..... I wish I can go back using Win 7.....

Which driver do you use now ? Already with 344.11 ?

I keep updating the driver as a last resort while waiting for patch for fixing this thing. Just google some more for some people make a turn away for fixing the problem, turn off shader cache, decrease LOD, etc. maybe worth a try since creating the .ini file for remove the FPS lock is really working :D

Once the windows hardware interrupt service (HAL) starts arguing with a video driver all sorts of things can ease the problem but you're just working around the root cause (as you say).

Why not revert to win 7? Win 8 lasted about 30 mins on my machine before I junked it - no patience!

I'm using this thread's driver just fine on 7.

    Hi NBR,

This is my first-post on NBR but I've lurked on these boards for years.

You elite enthusiasts helped / SAVED my butt plenty over the years, so, thank you!

That's an interesting evaluation of driver 344.11, MickyD. But some users are still experiencing micro-pauses in games with 344.11. Are you seeing this behavior aswell?
