In the nvidia control, i select auto select for my graphic card (gtx580m). My optimus dont work. I tried to use window explorer to view hd 1080, it says that i am using integrated card instead of gtx580m.

I tried to manually go to internet explorer and select auto select for my graphic card again. It says that "nvidia 3d settings are not compatible with integrated graphics".

    What went wrong?

I install my intel integrated driver (R303343) before my nvidia driver (R308308) am i doing it correctly?

    Please help. Thanks

Have you actually tried a game? The integrated graphics are actually pretty beefy, and it might not think it needs the GPU even for 1080P video.

You can also go get the newest Nvidia beta driver from the Dell site, go to custom install and select clean install, that should insure you have the right working software installed for the Nvidia card.

Have you tried the FN+F7 and a reboot?

Hi. I'm not completely sure about this, but i do know that Nvidia Optimus WILL NOT work on either the 1080P without 3D - Gtx580, or the 1080p 3D GTx580 setup.

As i said, I'm not sure about which one it really is, but one of them does not support optimus.

    edit:
Someone else will probably drop an note on this, someone who is sure :)

Optimus is not available on any 3D system, but that does not sound like this guys problem, at least if I am reading it right. Optimus is available on all systems that do not have 3D.

Sounds like he is running on integrated and can't get it to use the 580m.

This might be another blind suggestion but you can always try the latest driver right from nvidia's website. Beta or latest official should be fine as they both have worked well for me. If you choose custom installation you can choose "clean install" or something close to that wording. Maybe worth a shot :)

I am using latest beta driver myself without obvious issues. Hopefully this gives you some relief from this problem.
And I am assuming you have a gtx580m with the 900p or 1080p non-3d screens.

That is a problem i am having.I can not install any Nvidia drivers because I have a 3d screen and no optimus. All the Nvidia drivers contain it and won't install. Could anyone point me to some drivers I could use?

I would recommend the 290 drivers, for me the 295 gives error 51 for steam games.

Yoda, you've reported that several times, but I have no problem at all using 295.51 drivers on Steam. Just logged in, updated the client, ran a few benchmarks in Just Cause 2 and then tinkered around in H.A.W.X. Everything worked perfectly, looked great. No Error 51 or other glitch.
