For your modified INF, zip it (just the INF) and add as an attachment to your post here. We dont need to have multiple threads on 275.27.

    Thanks.

Installed these earlier as they're supposed to greatly improve performance for The Witcher 2, but it's now giving me horrendous problems with VLC player (winamp, youtube & games are all fine) - tried re-installed VLC to no avail.

LCD doesn't really matter as far as the INF goes but this is modded for 460M & 485M

This is for the 275.27 drivers, just overwrite the old one, haven't tested 485M as I don't have it anymore but works on my 460M, so should work on the 485M :)

Not sure if they'd work well, but the beta Verde drivers has the following in the release notes:
    Code:
Adds support for new 3D Vision notebooks: Alienware M17x R3 [...]

On my 460M Stereoscopic 3D still works, FYI.

In addition to LV's mod, also see this post:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/7504553-post49.html

As I understand it, when enabling 3D you may need to change the type of 3DVision (make sure the pulldown menu shows Alienware).

Has anyone who had the "suspend to black" issues on the latest released dell driver for the R3 tried these drivers and had any success with it going away?

So, IE 9 crashes seems to be fixed with these drivers, I concur.

Also, 3D is working brilliantly and games seems to be working faster ~2 fps I'm sure because this is what fraps is telling. Thanks guys for sharing the INF file..highly appreciate it.

The most drastic changes can be felt in Witcher 2 and I can confirm this point. I'm getting around 35-45fps @ high/1080p with AA=off. Also I can swear that the game feels much much more smoother now. Loving this driver already.

    Thanks guys...highly appreciated.

Nice to hear it from you. You are using the latest beta driver right?

I wonder will I be able to install it with a 60hz screen. Haven't got the time to do it. Hope it works. :)

awfull system stability on my M17x R1: bsods, black screen when lauching some games, black screen when the screen comes from "off" to "on" etc.

So far the 27x.xx drivers are total crap for me.

    Darcoder

this is my Hardware ID...a 17Xr3, with 60Hz screen (aka non -3d) , can you do anything to help
    Issues
    1) black screen from suspend
    2) Optimus does not engage with proper 3D triggers/ Intel HD stays on thus becoming the primary GPU...which does not bode well for my games

    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_04BA1028&REV_A1

I have tried your moddified 275.27+bios downgrade+DELL 266.08= no help....with modified drivers i can have BSOD vs random crashes

Re: Drivers for non-3D nVidia models (60hz screen). Has anyone yet analyzed the drivers from Dell and nVidia (of the same driver version) to see what was different?

Based on my very limited understanding of drivers and video cards so far, I think Dell might have messed with the firmware for the 460m on systems with 60hz displays. Hence the &REV_A1, since the A-based code seems to be Alienware/Dell's way of marking their own versions/revisions of drivers on the website.

To try and supplement Darcoder's excellent modding work over here, I've sent a message to someone at nVidia support explaining the problems with the older drivers Dell provides, and giving the HW ID of the cards in 60hz systems in hopes their driver team can start supporting them. Hopefully this will double our odds of getting good drivers.
