Did not go smooth. I went for the 'express' option through GF Experience. I like to see if it just works (or more hope lately!). It got stuck, or appeared to at 'preparing for installation'. Since I was seeing the driver install and disk access I just left it alone. After all disk access had stopped and it was still at the same message I killed it in task manager. Reloaded and the new driver was installed and working.
So, was it any faster? For me I got an increase to 43fps from 38fps in BMAO. 41fps to 55fps in F12012 and 48fps to 50fps in Dirt Showdown.
Strangest thing is that Dirt Sh just looks so much better. Can't put my finger on it but it is clearly better quality
Good luck guys.reborn2003 likes this. -
The previous Beta driver caused my screen to have bright contrast after watching movies for extended periods. Hopefully this is resolved now, in the WHQL. I'll download it and give it a go. (I know the issue was related to the Beta driver because I rolled back and tried the WHQL before this one (334.89) and the issue did not exist.)

Anyone else having issues with insurgency??
I upodated to this driver an now the fans kick in very early and I get a lot of stuttering when on max settings. Wasnt getting any of this on the previous BETA drivers -
so far son has tried it on several games, all seem to work fine... If you're having issues, I'd try and remove-and reinstall.
-
My 3Dmark scores increased by about 30 points...so not a big or noticeable increase really. That is running unlocked Vbios on the 780m and stock clocks.

Can anyone confirm this is a problem? I read it in the release notes but thought it MUST be a mistake...

I don't have the Intel GPU on a 120hz model so cannot test
Edit: fixed link... -
i could not install it right away. Nvidia experience kept hanging up and never really installed the driver. I had to force restart and manually install it to work.

Downloading them right now. I don't like the GE thing. I rather prefer to download them my self and install them.

I may have spoke too soon, looks like on my AW18, I get constant rapid spikes that affect both audio and video... at first I thought it was a sound issue, but it is affecting the entire game, and especially when there is more demand placed on graphics (such as in a dungeon / raid).. Not sure if this is driver related or something else.

Get latencyMon and check it out. No fix but at least a clue.
This driver is getting quite a few people saying that they had to roll back to the last beta -

No issues with this driver for me. Identical performance to previous whql driver in 3DMark11, Batman Arkham Origins, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Batman Arkham City. The only difference was an increase of 4% in Metro Last Light (Advanced PhysX On) - an increase from 46 to 48 fps - this benchmark is very consistent for me so I'm quite confident of the increase in performance on this game. Works fine in Skyrim & Grid 2 as well, although didn't bench those.
(DPC Latency green for me on these too, like previous whql).reborn2003 and MickyD1234 like this. -

Seems that there are a few problems around frame-rate limiting that are causing stuttering (from the NV forum) with this release. Not that I'm having any issues but I have noticed my FPS having a cap sometimes in BMAO even though it's turned off in-game and in-profile. I have to toggle them and restart the game to get higher frame rates - not that it affects me in any way since I run at less than 60 FPS most of the time anyway

On a side note: i did upgrade the driver almost simultaneously with the A07 bios upgrade on my 14. Ended up reverting both driver version and bios version (A06) while troubleshooting the problem.
With bios A06 and previous WHQL everything work fine.MickyD1234 likes this. -
Hmm...... I experienced some freeze screen, maybe around 5 times since I installed this version...... along with the notification "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. - Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered.". Should I refers back to previous driver ? What cause this error ?

. A rollback should clear it up (as I read from others).
https://forums.geforce.com/default/...-driver-feedback-thread-released-2-18-14-/26/
The problem is with the driver AND windows. Often referred to as a TDR error. All sorts of system changes can help or hinder but basically NV need to get this sorted!
I'd be interested is seeing the DPC latency (windows kernel Interrupt table) before and after rollback if you can?
Get a copy of 'Latencymon' ( Resplendence Software - LatencyMon: suitability checker for real-time audio and other tasks) and run it for 5 minutes. Let me know the highest DPC execution times. It may help to see if it the same issue that has been plaguing a lot of the latest releases...

Thanks
Hmm, I had a feeling that would be the case. NV appeared to fix the latency issue about 3 releases ago and this shows fine as far as my own testing goes. The hardpage faults are nothing to be concerned about and are probably caused my MS Essentials or some other virus checker.
Seems that NV have introduced some other way of causing a timeout on the driver. If the older one works fine then it's just a case of waiting for another oneB4n6k3 likes this. -
I have not played Starcraft 2 a whole bunch since this released but it does seem to have possibly fixed my screen freezing up issue. The screen used to just lock up only in that game, the game would continue on and I could hear it continuing on but I would just get a black screen.

These drivers work fine on my m17x r3... So far all my games run without any issues.
Thief runs at about 31-45 fps on normal, too.

Interesting information: TDR changes in Windows 8 (Windows Drivers)
From sora of all people in the NV forum!
Looks like NV et-al have been working with getting MS to fix the mess they introduced with the win 8 HAL update (retrospectively applied to 7 under automatic updates).
Can't recommend this driver since a whole new bunch of issues seem to have arisen. Looking like it affects 7xx cards mostly -
installed this version
the gfe installer got stuck
had to force close and then run it manually
tried a few games
batman AO got a mild 3-5 fps increase
didnt try anything else yet
PS: i really wish there was no fps cap on nfs rivals -
MickyD1234 Notebook Prophet
Also seeing a lot of people having problems with frame rate limiting when they do not want it. Seem NV have changed the way it works but maybe NFS has it coded, but it seems a strange thing to do -
EA just made a sloppy and a lazy console port
they did the same for hot pursuit and the run -
MickyD1234 Notebook Prophet
Strange thing is when I just loaded it up my clock stayed at it's min setting (75hz) right up to the point I started a game. Took forever loading between sections, although I don't see how the GPU causes this? Once it kicked in all was good -
30 FPS cap in any game, especially a car game should be a crime.
