So I contact OCZ because of a problem with my SSD (yeah yeah I know they have problems), but I actually got a relatively good response.

Apparently there is a known issue with RAID motherboards, and unfortunately Alienware has shipped its computers out with RAID enabled, so you have to do a few more things to get there.

Bootable Tools for OCZ Vertex2/3, Agility2/3, Solid3, Revo, and Ibis SSD's

This is an excellent post on how to secure wipe your drive, as well as a few really nice OCZ utilities including firmware updates and potential problems and solutions. Definitely a nice post :)

Thought I would share! Good luck!

To install the SSD just switch to AHCI and install windows.

Vertex 3 do freeze from time to time but I think the latest firmware fixed that problem. If it didnt apply the LPM fix.

If you read the guide I posted, you would see that one of the utilities is called "Unfreeze" :)

    Thanks! + rep

    Just a question:

It is recomanded to perform the firmware upgrade after backing up data etc... But it is really necessary? i mean, if i boot from usb with the iso and upgrade the firmware, will i loose my OS?
