I own an M17x R2 and would like to buy a SSD. I found the OCZ AGT3 120gb on amazon at an advantageous price: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004Z0S6SO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A3UJ9KKDPDWDGH
Is it compatible with the M17x R2?
Thank you in advance.

It is compatible, however the M17x R2 is limited to Sata II so you will only see Sata II speeds. However your next laptop may be sata III compatible, so it is still a worthwhile investment. As far as OCZ drives, I can't comment as I have only used intel drives.

it will work flawlessly. I am running one now in my R2 but like DR said it will run at sataII

CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
I have a 180Gb Agility 2, they work decently. I can personally recomend them. Other people may not be agree but i had a positive experience untill now. The 3 series is faster but as the others told you, the R2 controller will keep it at SATAII speed, but it will work.

Correct, it will run at SATA II speeds. However, if you're upgrading from a regular HDD you'll still notice quite a difference.
How to remove the Hard drive of the Alienware M17x R2? -
I use it in my R3 but somehow it will not perform SATA 3 speed...... no matter which bay that I used..... T_T
but, I think the problem come from my system..... T_T -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
In any case, yes any SSD should work in an M17x R2, but any SATA 3 SSD will run at SATA 2 speeds.
