I did a clean install of W7 using the key that was on prior to wiping. Now it says its not a genuine copy, that I may be a victim of counterfeit copy of windows blah blah blah. I ran the validation tool but no luck. I have done 2 other clean installs of W7 in the past, one last year some time, and had no problems. Could it be that I can only use the key X amount of times?

Is there anyway this can be resolved or do I just need to stick it out until I purchase another OS?

Call them I guess if it is a genuine key? You should have the sticker on your laptop anyways.

You can call Microsoft and they will verify your key and then give you an activation code, that is the only legal way around it.
