>>> My m17x-R2 DPC test. Look ma, no red spikes <<< -
Rengsey, I was looking at your video and then my eye caught the screenshot you took http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/2131/82191247.png
which is one is correct ? -

None of the current R2 owners had complained about DPC latency while a lot of them ran the tests. So for me it's proof enough that the issue is resolved.

i am just kidding. But if i remember right, Joker ran the DPC test and reported no problems whatsoever.
-
Yea Joker posted a screen short. From there on out it was confirmed by all owners who cared to comment. It really is a non issue with the R2
-
It would never harm though to confirm a screenshot with some rock solid data underneath, don't you think DR650SE?
Posting a screenshot like mine, below, would be indicative of a latency free R1? It could, but not by itself.

Unfortunately that's not it

my video proof of the dpc latency is better than a screen shot no? -
-
What about this? It's Rengseys video posted here

I am trying to figure out what is happening with the R2 -
wth are you talking about nothings happining with it lol no ones complained about dpc on it in any thread so its obviously not a problem?
-
If someone with an R2 would take a few minutes to go through Stamatisx's test it would help his research.
Up to you R2 owners, but if I was in your position I would try to give the guy a hand with it just to help him with his project. If not, no worries.
I ran through it - most time consuming aspect was the download. The .iso is only like 600MB. Only takes a couple of minutes to setup once you have the image burned to disc. -
The DPC latency checker is not an accurate way to measure latency. There are other tools more accurate to verify it.
Like BatBoy mentioned, the procedure is quite short. If someone is willing to take a few minutes and run the test is more than welcome. It will provide useful info first to himself and then to the rest of us since the results are in common view and available to everybody.
If I had an R2 I would be the first to run the test but unfortunately I don't and that's why I need someone of you to do it. -
Hey guys is it possible to BIOS flash the VGA?
-
Rengsey R. H. Jr. I Never Slept
Stamatisx,
I would do the test, but I no longer have the R2 in my posession anymore. -
Where did your R2 go Ren? Same place as my R1?

Nice work, i promise to test it once i get my beast.
I'd rep you but i ran out of rep to give for today.
Cheers. -
Some people have questioned the existence of the R2/Quicksilver bios that addresses the flickering. Here is a screenshot of my system's bios screen with the version shown:
-
-
^^ clearly photoshoped
-
Joker, remember when you got it ? AW said it's a matter of two weeks to release it right ?
How long had passed ? -
The reason I haven't run that extensive DPC latency test is because I don't see the need. The M17x-R2 runs great and I haven't noticed a bit of audio stuttering. I don't know how running the test on my machine would aid those with the R1 since they use completely different chipsets. If stamatisx can enlighten me to as how the R2 results could be at all relevant then I'll consider it. Or if someone else chooses they can go ahead and do it.

I have no problems at all with latency or anything else. The only problem I have is playing WoW and getting a little stuttering in the game, but my FPS has been great (40-60 in Dalaran). But that stuttering is a WoW issue that a lot of people have with all types of systems and different ATI graphics cards and not an M17x-R2 problem. I am very happy with this beast. -

I should have my R2 by the end of next week. I sure hope the revised bios is available for download by then.
-
At the time I was told 1-2 weeks. It will probably miss that target but be here shortly after hopefully. If I had to guess, the delay for release is probably due to the 5870m release and extra QA to make sure it works as intended. -
Based on your specs, you won't need it. -

the flickering is due to power issues, i dont believe the i5 draws enough juice to cause a problem. The flickering is mostly an i7 920 problem. You planning on updating the processor ? -
I think he bought the low cpu with the plan to uprade it.
And with the 940XM around the corner, that might not have been a bad idea -
YES go us waiting for a month and counting! Come on 2 months..........

does nobody have problems with the RGB and the ATI CF?
I know that a lot of users here in Germany have some issues with this combination. Therefore the RGB is no longer available here -
Check the results on nburro's submitted data to see what is introducing latency to the R2 and how high or low the latency is.
If you read the very first post which explains what DPC latency is, you would find out that latency is software related and your claims about different chipsets are not valid.
When you try to compare things you need a point of reference in order to be able to measure the difference. i.e the speed of a car is different for someone who is standing on the sidewalk and different for another car that is heading the opposite direction to the first one.
In our case we need an R2 as a point of reference since everybody agrees that it is video and stutter free. The more data we have about both R1 and R2, the more accurate our final conclusion will be. Different setups may result to different results. By having as many data as possible from R2s will eliminate the last one mentioned, indicating a uniform performance among all R2s.
I hope I helped you see the point here. -
What kind of battery life can I expect on the R2 when I'm just browsing the net, emailing, (using wireless) and using MS Office etc? Specs are in sig
Thx -
-
I get about 1:30 mins with full charge and brightness. -
