    Thanks.

This was in regard to ATI 10.5 suite. The error code was a very generic one (meaning it could be hardware or software; according to Microsoft). What I did was uninstalled all ATI drivers out of the computer, manually scan through the registry to clean out some left over keys, and reinstalled ATI 10.5. The computer seems to be much more stable now. It was blue screening several times a day.

Now, in regard to computer with 920XM and 5% overclocked in the BIOS: after mine wake up from a sleep, the overclock went back to default until reboot. Can someone with the extreme CPU check and confirm this? Pretty please?

can you help me too? do you have an express card tv tuner or do you have an e-sata disk?

Try running GPU-Z together with HWinfo32 and see if their readings are the same. I think HWinfo32 can't read the cards correctly.

I have Everest Ultimate and it reports CPU FSB speed. HWiNFO32 does this as well.

I can't help you with your request because I don't have an express TV tuner card and no e-sata to test out. Sorry.

ok do you have this on device manager?

this must be the e-sata controller but i am not sure. the driver says its not digitally signed and this may create issues on win7.there is nowhere i could find a driver for it not resource dvd or on the net. intel drivers dont add anything to it.

Do you guys have this too?

also with power button you enter sleep mode and then when in sleep mode you press again power button to restore system right? it seems i get only a blank screen when pressing power button after sleep mode. it must be an issue of 10.5 drivers.

Yea, I got my 940XM from Laptop Monkey for $750 shipped. Also comes with a 1 year warranty from the reseller. Not bad since it's not going to be any differant from the OEM version thats going to go for well over $1k.

Are you running Daemon tools? That randomly named controller is the virtual SCSI controller for your virtual DVDROM. You can confirm by going to device manager, change view to "devices by connection" and drill down like so:

The cdrom device name should correspond with the name of your virtual drive.

Finally received my M17x and I love it and haven't had any problems with it except some colors on the rgb screen feel so bright that they are burning my retina's out :p Hopefully when i apply the profile here somewhere on the forum the colors won't feel like that (namely the free space indicator on the hard drive tools (pie diagram thingy))

ok i did those steps for the e-sata disks to work BUT THEN AGAIN AFTER RESTART E-SATA DISKS DONT WORK AGAIN WITHOUT INSTALLING EVEN A SOFTWARE!

    1) installed everything after format including windows updates
    2) created system restore point
    3) uninstalled intel matrix storage
    4) connected e-sata drive (a sound that new device is detected should be heared)
    5) go into device management and press rescan disks
disk should appear as disk drive (but still not able to access)
    6) remove drive
    7) do system restore to the point created before a while
    8) re-enter e-sata drive
    9) again you should hear a sound of a drive connected and device should begin to be installed with its specific model type this time (but still not able to enter device)
    10) go to device manager, right click on disk and press uninstall, then right click on disks and press rescan.
    11) now drive should appear and be able to access it from computer

REMEMBER FIRST CONNECT E-SATA TO E-SATA CABLE THEN DC ADAPTER TO USB ABLE (pOWER CABLE)

INTEL matrix storage drivers and windows 7 is crap. thats the conclusion from a search i ve made on many forums during those 3 days. versions from 8.8 and older are thought not to have those e-sata issues but none is compatible with win7

this is a reply to my post? did you try an e-sata disk with those and works?

thus i think the matrix storage has the drivers for ide controllers (maybe thse are responsible for e-sata) not intel chipset ones.

Just a general post. I was looking to optimize my SSD's and found some info stating these drivers have "better" Trim support.

If I can find my esata cable i'll try it and post the results.

i'm pretty sure he messed around with the settings until colors looked accurate enough. That's what I did, i used his settings and had to tune the red down even more, and now the screen looks perfect to my eyes.

    Good luck!

Try turning off write caching on the esata drive.

The Intel Rapid Storage drivers (circa 9.6.2.1001) do not reduce SSD speeds dramatically or otherwise. They also provide little or no practical benefit, performing almost identically to the Wndows driver except for increased write speeds on small (4K) files.

ok i tried it again. speed is same as with intel matrix storage (slightly faster). in comparison with windows driver i have 10mb/sec less read speed (according to hd tune pro).

i cant understand how its good now. the first time i installed it i had 70mb.sec read speed on the ssd

do you or anyone has any esata disk ? noone in this forum has e-sata disk to help me justify what i say about faulty esata drivers of intel? i strongly believe the same will happen with firewire.

i dont talk about benchmark on e-sata but that e-sata is not detected at all. and i have two different ones.

and yes R1 has different chipset. as i saw this must be an issue of intel matrix storage (and rapid storage) and win7. if you see the steps i followed it has to do with full absence of recognition of e-sata drives by intel matrix storage or conflict between windows and intel drivers for e-sata
