    Hey man

What I usually do, is go to Device Manager, and check the Hardware ID of each device that shows as not installed/undetected then google that. It always gets me the exact type of device/model it is and I just search for that on Dell's support page.

hmmm....some games have the screen partially flicker black for not even a second some times and it's only like 1 or 2 games that do this. it usually flickers a bar the width of the screen but the height is variable.

    Hi!
Currently I'm working on project to turn k3100m/k4100M into k5100m/GTX 880m without hardware mod and I'll be very appreciative if you help with some stuff. I'm looking for people with gtx 780/870/880 or quadro K3/4/5100M. All you need to do:

    1. Download GPU-Z and save the vBIOS.
    2. Download RWEverything, in top corner select "Access-->PCI". Then windows should appear - select device called "nVidia Corporation VGA Controller". After, save the info to binary with Shift+F2 combination.
    3. Share this two files with me :)

    Best Regards,
    Valentine.

Next time. Go into Device Manager, right click on the problem device and select Properties. Click the Details tab, choose Hardware Ids from the dropdown box and Google it.

Google the Hardware ID String that you'll find in the Device Manager (where Papusan was talking about).

so i installed win 10 on thursday evening and now i am starting day 2 of using it. interestingly enough i reduced the number of times my screen flashes on and off during the boot phase simply by turning off fast boot in the UEFI settings. instead of 3 flashes it just does 1 - not perfect but much better.

how did you sort out the "burning" screen panels under Windows 10 on Alienware?

i made sure not to install precision x or after burner. i use nvidia inspector to do the overclocking.

EDIT: I also disabled fast startup in windows cos i don't use sleep mode - it's either on or off for me.

Do you know personally anyone with optimus (60Hz screen) who successfully installed drivers for the 980m in Windows 10? I would like to go back to W10 but I really don't want to get disappointed again and waste hours on that again...

the first barrier is the fact that they're 30 pin panels and the R1s are 40 pin.

This could be pretty much mission impossible. In the 120Hz upgrade guide, there was a warning about some revisions of the 120Hz that weren't working for some people. So if such a thing can prevent an actual upgrade of the screen, I don't see how any Clevo screen could work on an Alienware...

What is the difference in temp now and before in the same scenario? I would purchased/tried Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut if you do not want to try ICD or Clu.

I was thinking more on the difference in temperature before and now. What's the difference now and in the past? Can you check the maximum temperature in a full scan with your antivirus?

what's the GPU? 780M and 980M don't have much issues as long as you allow apps like HWINFO to do the fan controlling for you.

still 359.06, 359.12 is hotfix only that only applies to a few cards and the 980m doesn't count.

    @thegh0sts

Are those drivers issues for the 980m related to us upgrading our AW17 R1 with "non-supported" GPUs or is everyone facing such issues with drivers on Win10? (for example on the new AW or MSI, Asus etc...)
