Stopt the friggin pissing contest. First you tag me in this thread in which I pretty much have nothing to do. I do not own an older AW17 model, nor do I care what someone else's score is on this laptop, then you come with bullcrap about the score comparisons on which I responded to counter your claims. You chose to ignore half of it which is fine. Than you also make assumptions. This is a notebook forum isnt it? So in my sig are only my last notebook systems. Do you know why I buy notebooks? To actually move them everyday. Do you know what I do not consider a notebook? Any laptop bigger than 15inch and thicker dan lets say about 4cm and heavier than 3kg. Everything above that is pretty much a desktop replacement in my book, th elaptops I use now is for me the best performing laptop in its size class to which I find it acceptable to carry it with me daily. When I want performance on my desk with no compromises I wont buy any desktop replacement lapto,p but a true self built high performance desktop instead. On my desk now are an 5 year old but still going strong liquid cooled 2500K@5ghz and a pair of 970s and a render station with a nice hexacore corei7 which also has been overclocked and a nice 980TI. This is what I call performance machines and ment for overclocking. A laptop will always be flawed for that task in my opinion and you might not agree. But these are my definition of performance machines. Oh and the forum is called tweakers.net where also some of the most well known casemodders etc hang out in the scene. All in Dutch ofcourse. When we overclock we actually do real hardware voltmods. Not a mere bios with some tweaks to get a score that everyone can get with a cherry picked cpu and or gpu.
Anyway, I know you are an older dude (at least you often talk about eyesight and age when it comes to 4K panels) isnt it time to act like it? Enjoy your "BGA pussy crusher". Dont tag me in topics where I pretty much have nothing to do with or at least respond fully to a post and not selectively gather info and disregard the other half of it..
-
No offense
I tagged you to show you that 3 year old AW laptops with an nice upgrade to $700-800 will deliver better stock performance than the latest of the latest gaming laptops from Dell(home at $3200). That a 3 year old EOL laptop beat the latest from Alienware is not a big surprise for some of us. Maybe I also will upgrade my Aw17 "Elitist". Who already have an high OC'd i7-4930Extreme. With high oc'd Gtx980m+ 330w psu, I think my older laptop will beat the most of newer laptops with single graphics. Newest Aw 17 will become in the dust.
When it comes to high OC on a laptop and compete in benc, I would say an GHz in a laptop is of high performance classes. I mean desktop pcs with same processors don't deliver so much better performance. Newest 4 cores i7 OC'd to 4.8 GHz is still decent also for desktop pc's I think
What you have of hardware is not so interesting for me, but it shows more that you put more appreciative of thin lighter design than raw performance. But say a laptop with nicely OC'd GHz(see sig) isn't raw performance, say something about you. Click the link in my sig and you will see what I mean. Hwboot. org is an interesting site
Ps... Take also a look at 3Dmark.com and se what OS they have to use if overclockers want to be on the top in 3Dmark Firestrike and 3Dmark 11.
Sitting tethered to an desktop pc isn't the best choice for me... For best performance isn't a AWBOOK a choice for me as I want high performance. I think also same for your choice of laptops... But for other reasons

Nobody is ignoring, he posts a proof and you just trash people, you are too sour...Just ignore would do right ? you said it yourself then why are you wasting time.
Do you know that your 970 GTX cards have only 3.5GB effective fast GDDR5 or you want to ignore that as well ?
And here's what notebooks can achieve, depends on the user and with a "mere BIOS mod" http://www.3dmark.com/fs/7295065Last edited: Mar 10, 2016Papusan likes this. -

Not so relevant now because of BGA crap, but this guy should see some of Mr.Fox's benchmarks from a year or so ago.
They smashed the majority of "true self built high performance desktops" that were available at the same time.
And since when has owning a Alienware laptop been just about performance, it used to also be a style thing, not so much now, but it used to be..... -
and I just shown a stock Firestrike run that is scoring higher than the AW17R1 score you showed me. Thus refuting your statement. Also a higher score and even the difference between your examples was very small. Even then you selectively pick some data and neglect a lot of other data. 6700K for a desktop is midrange by the way. Only socket 2011/3 is high end in the desktop world. The hardware in my sig only shows what I consider laptops. I dont consider your machine a laptop, its too bulky, too heavy and a desktop replacement. How often do you transport it by the way? Never? Why then dont buy a good desktop for less. Hell I can build 2 much faster desktops for that money you paid for it. Its all very personal what is good for someone and what isnt. If you do move it, good for you and enjoy it. I rather dont carry such a heavy machine with me. But you know that. There is always better performance once you go bigger.
Sour? I am not the one tagging people to start an argument, and no reason to feel sour
And read the rest of my post. Some data i posted was clearly just ignored. Something with my stock speed run of firestrike and a better score. I posted links with stock scores of 980M equipped AW's in the past that scored higher than the 2 benchmarks he posted, they were ignored and he started the same argument in a different topic with the same crap.
I know the 970's are pretty much 3.5gb cards. But they sure do perform well especially with both cards a small bit south of running at 1.5ghz boost clocks. I paid 500 euro for both new and the performance is phenomenal for that price and beats a single 980 which would cost me 500euro as well. Serves its purpose till there are 8gb or higher pascal cards available.
There has never been a laptop with a 6 or 8 core cpu. These are still above every quad core available from the same generation. -
Do you read the posts in the tread? You say...There has never been a laptop with a 6 or 8 core cpu...
There is no need for this. Proper laptops with sockets can be upgraded with 8 core processors... But as you know very well... BGA can't be upgraded, LOL. Therefore I asked if you read the posts. Here is the link that you ignored.. http://www.3dmark.com/fs/7295065This Clevo is upgraded with Intel Xeon Processor E5-1680 v2. How many cores are there on this processor as the image↓↓↓?
Can you see the Firestrike physics score? Normally is the physics score on this laptop +20.000 with better Overclock.
Can you tell me about your preferred setup with 2 desktop computers with much faster speed and hardware than my new laptop for the money I payed? I paid $ 3750 for my BGA Crushing Killer Edition as in the hardware sig ↓↓↓. This means that you must set up and buy 2. complete desktop PC's, Win 10 Pro, keyboard, mouse, G-sync monitor, speakers, microfon and of course 5 year free warranty. Everything of hardware must be included in the price with shipping to my home... Do not forget to add extra 25% tax on top of the price you shall pay for all hardware, warranty and shipping to the Norwegian government. + also $ 100 in toll fee that you also need to add extra 25% tax on top. Can not wait to see what you will offer and what I should buy.
I need a desktop replacement for travelling to my cabin on the mountain and my other cabin with the sea +++... If you wondered why I want a High Performance laptop and not a crapBook
Here is by the way my last Cinebench 11.5 test done by BGA Crushing Killer... http://hwbot.org/submission/3154039_papusan_cinebench___r11.5_core_i7_6700k_11.7_points

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/10905808
Later I will have 2 of this and the score... You know.Last edited: Mar 11, 2016Ashtrix likes this. -
Oh hahaha I forgot about that laptop. Not really a laptop though, 20 minutes of runtime under load. Thats just a PC with a screen and keyboard attached.
But true there is one laptop that does support socket 2011/13 if you can call that a laptop. BUt you jus tmove your laptop sometimes by car? It is still not a portable machine but a desktop replacement. THat so called craobook is truly portable machine and one of the best performing in its size class.
Quickly assembled a system at 1 shop. Can be cheaper
CS750M, 750 Watt voeding,
DRW-24F1MT, DVD-brander,
BX200, 240 GB SSD
WD Green 1TB 7200rpm
16 GB DDR4-2133 Kit, Werkgeheugen,
Core i7-6700K, 4,0 GHz (4,2 GHz Turbo Boost) socket 1151 processor
Seidon 120V Rev. 2,
Arc Midi R2 Solid Side Panel Behuizing,
Windows 10, Software
MAXIMUS VIII RANGER, socket 1151 moederbord)
Asus Strix 980ti 6gb
27inch Dell Gsync monitor
For 1900euro assembled with 3 years warranty from the shop. Add a keyboard and mouse for 100euro and you got a full system for 2000 euro with a much faster 980ti. 2 of them would cost 2000euro. Incl taxes by the way. Could go cheaper if I buy it from different stores but too much effort to look that up. So yeah I can build 2 faster desktops with a lot bigger screen by the way and better cooled, more overclocking potential for the same amount of money. -
What will the total price be for 2 of this desktops with all taxes I must pay home(+25%)+ another minimum 100$ on top ? 1x Bx 200 240GB JUNK SSD instead of 2x 512GB 950 NVMe ssd's and one 512GB 850 Pro in the BGA Killer. Is this serious meant @rinneh ? What about the 5 year free warranty vs only 3 years? And maybe cheap keyboard, speakers, mic and a mouse on top?
Maybe I also should buy an gaming laptop on top so I can take with me on the cabin i use in the weekend or take with me that machine and +++? LOLLast edited: Mar 11, 2016 -
What does your laptop have? Yes cheap thin sounding speakers just like any other laptop. The system I showed you still got fabrication warranty after these 3 years. So yeah the warranty might be less. But the point still stands. You can build 2 faster desktops for the same money. Like I said taxes included. 27inch compared to a 17 in return. ofcourse it is a different experience. Now comes my whole point. Your laptop is fine for you because you transport it once in a few days or weeks? With probably a car. I dont move my desktop ever, so for me that is perfect. But I do need a laptop daily and transport it 2 times a day with me (in the metro, in the train, on a bicycle, walking. So the laptop I chose is one of the highest performing in a class of laptop that I do consider portable So this is how pointless the pissing contest is. It fits your lifestyle and its the highest performing possible for your needs. It doesnt fit my lifestyle so the AW15 next to a desktop system is the highest performing possible for my needs. So shall we end this extremely pointless discussion?

It was just a discussion that morphed from an A17 user initally posting 'BGA crushing' benchmark results.
I'm not a fan of thin & light notebooks personally, I don't need that portability. Fully upgradeable External Graphics Amplifiers combined with a thin notebook that didn't throttle it's i7 CPU would be pretty cool, but then I still wouldn't need that - desktop for me next perhaps, yet to decide. The A17 was/is a pretty good notebook from that performance perspective, but it was still compromised in some respects in comparison to the M17xR4 & M17xR3 - always becoming less enthusiast orientated until we have the BGA units of today.Last edited: Mar 11, 2016 -
Pretty much this. Papusan suddenly tagged me in this forum. Started with that an AW17R1 performed better than an AW15R1/R2/17R2/17R3 with a 980 and I just posted a benchmark run where that was not the case, yeah I know pointless.
-
I posted an AW17 FS run and you posted an improved score well, I say it's the win10 boosting FS and you ask for a proof, I show the proof which turns out to be useless... Later say that you're being ignored at some point and then you again ignore a post with 8 Core CPU, I didn't even bother to make you realize that you didn't even have a look at that 3dm result because it's complete waste of time of mine, & now the subject changes to the DTR and all and then start trashing that machine (P570WM) , and the P870DM as-well without even knowing jack about them ?
Just for the kicks, a fact - P870DM has the notebook speakers which are the best in the world
BTW The Alienwares were tend to be DTRs *ONLY* not praised for the battery life but the M18x R2 can have a 4HR battery life also , Underperforming, compromised a.k.a BGA, locked down EC, borked fan profiles, gimped battery-PSU power delivery management, downgraded chassis, downgraded RAM options.
Instead praised for uncompromised performance, quality with the user control and easy user access, upgradeablity, the new Aptio makes the BGA Alienwares get the BIOS mods but that could result in a brick even prema touches the vBIOSes sBIOS components, a complete trash, the M17x, M18x machines had the SBIOS mods and they work flawless even today with massive upgrades, which we cannot expect with the BGA motherboards of the new lineups
Now the Alienware brand is officially dead after the discontinuation of the AW18
To justify this thread, could we just stop it now ?Last edited: Mar 11, 2016 -
The thing about parts being ignored was aimed at Papusan, regarding WIn10 boosting Firestrike is just bullcrap. It performs better. If you say boosting its like Samsung Galaxy phones that overclock their soc's when they detect a benchmark run. This is not the case ofcourse with windows10. Just like I showed in some benchmarks it tends to perform with some games and does to perform less with others. But the differences with Firestrike arent huge. Anyway not with the sources that I find (100points more or less).
and yes i trash the P570WM, because its simply not a laptop, its a very big desktop replacement which only serves a purpose for I presume video editors off site and portable servers? The same performance as a full size desktop but in a horrible form factor for a laptop (5.5kg without the PSU's). I just forgot it existed by the way but I remembered the review and rechecked it. It hardly can run from battery, its fairly loud, its fairly hot and if I am correct needs 2 psu's? So yeah I say it again, you can make anything run faster if you make it bigger but its not a laptop anymore.
The P870DM is just not my cup of tea, I dont like the size, I dont like the construction much but its a nice desktop replacement that does run cool (I have actually tried one of a friend that owns a shop and sell Clevo laptops off the brand "BTO" in Holland. But the best laptop speakers in the world? Laptop speakers are pretty much **** to begin with. With speakers it does matter what size they ar (quality too ofcourse) and this is only mentioned because I made a statement that I could build 2 faster desktops for the same amount of money.
Again its just to make a point that its not **** products or good products. Its about the product that is right for someone. You, Papusan and some others are constantly trashing other machines in other topics just because they dont fit your profile. Its bullcrap.
The old Alienwares were nice I dont think the construction was much better though, some plastic panels felt cheap to me but overall I liked what they did but again these machines were not for me. Or else I would have bought one.
In my opinion the current Alienware are just as good but different machines. But one of the sturdiest now on the market and I actually tried 5 different laptops within a 4month timespan before I made that conclusion of which also a Clevo laptop was included and I have no issues with the fanprofiles as long as the machine stays under 80c under full load which it does, at least it doesnt sound like a vacuum cleaner), The battery life is excellent and I never even experienced the so called battery gate issue because my psu was always big enough.
Massive upgrades by the way? You can only upgrade the CPU's with others from the same generation aka not a lot a big leap, not that Intel improved a lot in terms of performance and with MXM gpu's that cost half of a full size laptop. Still you lack NVMe, still have an old chassis, still have an old battery, screen etc. Yeah its so economical to upgrade a laptop........ -
Pointless, to post anything useful here. Apologize that this turned out to be stuff not related to the thread related topic in any means and misleading, I plead to MOD to delete the irrelevant posts if possible.

I put up an ordering here at home with his chosen components. Minimum price $ 2,600 without other than the machine itself. Norway is a high cost country with sky high taxes/vat... Mouse, keyboard, mic and speakers will cost about $ 250 at home. Can't see the worth in buying a desktop with lower quality hardware as eg 1x Bx 200 240GB SSD JUNK. Instead of what follows with my BGA Killer (2x 512GB 950 NVMe SSD's and one 512GB 850 Pro). Yeah a 240GB ssd... I will call the ssd junk aka like the new **** from Dellienware. This is what I will call a real downgrade of SSD/HDD for storage space and Os. How in the world could I be able to buy 2 pieces of this downgraded desktop PC for less than $ 3,750? That's the price I paid. This is quite like to be on berry-picking. I have other wanting7needs than to put in the cheapest hardware you can find of ssd's and kabinet +++. Is not very excited about a purchase of a medium quality PSU either. What about future upgrades to Sli as I can with the laptop? This is just nonsense.
A 15 inches AwBook will never ever be a desktop replacement for none.... Only a replacement for ipad or similar hand held junk... The same apply also to AWbook 17R2 and 3, LOL
Yeah do that @Ashtrix . Because this is only BS
I want something to have, not junk...
Edit: Maybe this review site also got faulty hardware as all other? Nice results. AcerBook is the king of medium performance crapbooks now. Yeah
Even an other test review site...

Because it continues I respond to this. The desktop I built was an example what you could do with the same amount of money. Asus ROG motherbaord cheap? It has a far better VRM system than any laptop and is actually overengineered, great for overclocking. Oh and it DOES support SLI.
The PSU cheap? Its a Corsair Gold standard PSU, it doesnt get much better than that unless you go Platinum with a Seasonic PSu for example. But a small laptop PSU doesnt even come close to this.
a 980TI Strix cheap? Its faster than any laptop GPU and can actually be truly overclocked. Again due to the better overengineered VRM's for the card.
External things like speakers I didnt count, the speakers of the laptop are in teh same range as the speakers of an average monitor. Mouse and keyboard of the laptop arent exactly of super high quality. So to suddenly expect that for a PC is skewing the results isnt it
The SSD's are not the best but have been proven reliable
Oh and Holland is one of the most expensive countries to live just like Norway by the way. Sales tax is slightly lower (21%) but our salary tax is enormous. Up to around 52%, Maybe there isnt just a good distributor for computer parts in norway. But your Kunshan laptop has the same price as the BTO version in Holland or the XMG version in Germany. In Germany PC parts are even cheaper.
But it doesnt matter it was just an example how fruitless this discussion is, you always can get more performance if you go bigger and thats my point. Because the only thing you guys do is this "I DONT LIKE IT SO IT IS CRAP!" or "THATS A TOTAL TURDBOOK AND MY PUSSY CRUSHER LAPTOP DESTROYS IT" Totally ignoring that the form factor maybe totally out of the question for other users.
Read for once my posts "DO A FRESH INSTALL AND SEE A SCORE INCREASE" no review has done this. Or do you think my score on stock speeds is unique? Or of others users on the 3Dmark site?
But yeah its totally useless but I rather solve this here now that to see constantly the same responses in other topics back on laptops you might didnt even touch ever in your life just because you dont like the form factor
Regarding the mods, disappointed they are not like Swiss
Just on like any other forum.
-
You compare a desktop PSU with Laptop adapter. Yeah
You know I can use 2x330w Psu for the BGA Crushing KILLLER? Probably NO. You still live in the Dellienware world. Max 180w psu and Hybrid bios. Sorry I forgot... Dellienware can now offer 240w psu for their flimsy AWBooks. A very very nice upgrade... Yeah
Buy cheapest 750w psu and you want upgrade later to Sli... Yeah
Minimum ram spec. Yeah
Put up BX 200 240GB ssd with crappy TLC nand vs high end 2x512GB 950 Pro NVMe + 512GB 850Pro delivered in my BGA Crushing KILLER... Yeah. I think you still live in the Dellienware world. Only cheap OEM ssd's in the AwBooks.
And final...
Asus Gtx 980 Ti Strix can't even match the 980 Sli desktop version for laptops in Fire Strike Standard Graphics with stock clock.
19510 vs 23351 980Sli desktop version in laptops with stock clock. Yes
Even the old 980M Sli match nearly 980Ti Strix in firestrike, LOL
Yet another downgrade you offer... And I have to be tethered to my desktop 24/7 and never can use my cabin again, because I have to game and work home. Yes... LOL

Your laptop doesnt have a SLI 980 setup........next to that and this comes from an SLI user. SLI works like **** in recent triple A titles and UE4 has a lot of issues with it. The 980TI is still next to the Titan X the fastest single gpu card out there. But for the same amount of money you can get 2x 970GTX's which are a crapload faster than a double 980M setup. You laptop cant even use double 980s because the mxm boards are too wide for that setup so dont try to bring that up.
The Corsair 750watt PSU I showed you ( http://www.corsair.com/en/cs-series-modular-cs750m-750-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-psu) the cheapest? Damn dude you truly ridiculous. It is a 80plus gold certified PSU and has excellent reviews. A cheap PSU is an 80plus bronze no name PSU for around 30 euro's.
So what are you babbling about? Dude you are dense. If you want to continue send me a PM. This is ridiculous to the next level. -
Yeah. We're done. But this BGA Crushing KILLER is upgradable for SLI, so do not forget it. LOL

question I have an AW17 ranger myself with a geforce 880m in it I need to know can i use the same 3 pipe heat sink on an radeon r9 m290x I just need to know for testing purposes
-
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
At a minimum you need an NVidia X-bracket for the back of the card, because they're different shapes to the AMD ones, and I think the post heights of those X-brackets are different. Pad layout is gonna be different too, but I don't know if the actual heatsink is compatible or not after using the correct X-bracket & moving the pads around.
EDIT: I got confused, you need an AMD X-bracket of course, not an NVidia one (the X-bracket has to match the manufacturer of the card, e.g. AMD or NVidia)!Last edited: Mar 15, 2016 -

its cool i found a solution i just wanted to test the card first but i'm gonna just drop it straight in the M15x all i need to do to heat sink is change screws -
I have a AW17 R1 and I got no bass. The speakers has a serious cuttoff at around 150Hz and at 80Hz and below there's no sound at all even at everything maxed. When i plug my headphones i get sounds as low as 20Hz.
I used " Bass Test - 2000Hz - 1Hz" from youtube (link)
Could anyone do the test and confirm ? I'd like to be sure that it's coming from the hardware.
Also, if confirmed, I'd want to know if i can buy a bass/subwoofer that could complete the AW17's ones

whelp i answered my own question lol. I dropped my r9 in the system found out it was dead as hell. but why would repasting my geforce 880m cause it to run 2 degrees c warmer under load? I put a thin coat on it as per general rule of thumb. and I'm using MX4
-
masterlink2002 Notebook Consultant
So im finding my 880m is running warmer now then when i originally pulled it from my aw17. I used arctic silver mx4 for cooling any suggestions? I notice it running close to 90 c under full load this has me worried. Any suggestions?
-
This is definitely not right... Mine DID run hot before repasting (max of 85 if I remember correctly). However when my 1st 980m died and I reinstalled my old 880m, upon repasting with Gelid Extreme the max temp I was getting under load was around 73-74 (with a cooling pad)
I used the "pea" method for pasting by the way. And also make sure you don't tighten the heatsink too much as it might warp or something and contact with the GPU die will actually be WORSE. Got this advice from Woodzstack when buying my 980m from him -
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
If you're seeing a large increase in temperatures in comparison to previously, then something has gone wrong with the cooling. Check heatsink not blocked with dust, is fan kicking up in speed, think about re-pasting & check that pads are aligned properly & allowing the heatsink to sit flat on the GPU core. The type of thermal paste you use is not that important, about a 5 degC spread between the best & worst pastes (conductive metal pastes like Liquid Ultra not considered). I've used Arctic Silver 5 and now Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut - on my system Kryonaut is about 2 degC cooler than Arctic Silver 5. -
masterlink2002 Notebook Consultant
In clean the paste and the fans often they are sitting right under load it runs about 76 degrees c with a max of 90 in hw monitor. i just want to make sure i'm not replacing the video card in a year. its warranteed until september at least. -
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
You can still check that the pads are placed properly & aren't damaged & that the heatsink is sitting flat on the GPU core. -

I'll do so later this evening when i get home. but in mean time i've dumbed the factory over clock from 4ghz down to 3.8 and it made a difference -
masterlink2002 Notebook Consultant
Ding dong. I fixed it. loosened screws on gpu and cpu half turn and it is running about 4 degrees cooler. I backed the factory oc from 4ghz to 3.8 which helped alot too and everything still flysStudio1557 likes this. -
I bricked and probably killed my AW 17 R1
I re-installed XTU and made an offset, it was already too late when I read the negative offsets will cause it to have a black screen (not even entering into the bios). So to un-brick it, I removed all memory modules, but then it won't power on now.
I'm pretty sure I was grounded and had no static discharges, and there were only two cables needed to remove in the palmrest: the keyboard ribbon and then the ribbon for the lights. Re-tracing in the AW17 manual is not fruitful too. Anyway, I called Dell support and they'll be sending someone in by Tuesday next week. While waiting, I'd like to ask for your suggestions on anything I might have missed
-
masterlink2002 Notebook Consultant
It may be possible that something cause a short on the bios chip. it is possible that you may just need to flash the bios. not sure on that front tho. -
I wouldn't necessarily panic yet. When I fully disassembled my R1 to install a new mSata SSD, the first time I tried to turn on my laptop, it wouldn't do anything... So I disassembled everything again and simply made sure all cables were properly connected between the front panel and the mobo and that did the trick.
Honestly, if you made sure to ground yourself while working on the laptop, and were generally speaking, careful, then I doubt you damaged anything...temp00876 likes this. -

I was thinking to mod my dvd caddy, where I have a normal 9.5mm driver at the moment, in exchange for this new 4tb Seagate/Samsung 2.5", more specific model ST4000LM016

The big problem it's the 15mm height BUT some people are reporting that the drive actually is a tiny bit lower.. more like 12.7mm height.
I'm kind of positive about this mod as there is good space inside the dvd area..
Did somebody tried to store a 15mm drive before in the Alienware 17 R1 ? -
Hey man
I successfully modded my 17 R1 with a caddy purchased from newmodeus (which I recommend btw).
I put in it my existing WD Blue 1TB which I replaced with a 850 Evo. That drive was of course 9mm while the caddy needed to be 12.7mm (which I failed to know, so I actually added some padding below the caddy... That did the job and I never move the laptop so I chose this solution instead of reordering the correct caddy...)
I really don't think you'll find a caddy that'll be able to fit that drive though. Plus, you better check the R1's BIOS can even detect hard drive sizes > 2GB... Maybe some of the experts here can confirm whether this is possible or not...Nomad likes this.
