I've always had mine on 99w for both, that means TS is limiting to 99w? So we should put 130w here?

HOLY SHIZZLE IT WORKED! I have 0 Flex and 45x easy peasy, win mode! Yay brother john!

John we are just pushing it for the highest Vantage score, everyday use I have 40/39/37/37

I see your problem right now...It's that 32 amps.

And yes TS can go far higher than 99 watts.

Ignore the 32 amps thing, that was just me messing around and bios default was 256 Priplane for some reason.

However it was TS set to 99w which was the problem! with 130w and 1000 Priplane I have no BSOD now :)

Thank you Brother John, do M17x users have the right to call you that?

?? So what are your settings? I didn't think that TS could actually control anything.

:D . Of course Brother Geocake.
Yes it does...it allows you to set higher watts which are needed to run higher over clock and stability for the most part.

Happens ~ 5 minutes after boot. Think I am gonna call it a night, I will get over this darn BSOD

Well, since i have tried explaining this to you many times before and you never tried...i guess now would be a good time to see.. :D :D
Run ts and wprime side by side.
    Set it to 130W
And see what happens. It will show you your watts in use. Try 45x and then 46x with 5 Flex.
46x is still under 100 watts, but if your temps are above 90 for too long it wont hold.

Alright sure. I must have not understood you the first times. So you are saying that OEM chips will max out at around 130w and any higher will hardly yield results? Sorry for all the questions, not in the best position to do any benches at the moment lying in bed with GF watching a film.

Hmmm, sounds like ThrottleStop was doing something. :D

You would probably need to run wPrime and watch TS power consumption while wPrime was running. Adjust the Package Power Limit higher or lower than 99 and see what happens.

I wish I had some hardware to play with so I could make TS better for you guys. Maybe someday. Still great to see what you guys are getting out of these XM CPUs, with or without ThrottleStop.

    No worries.

You need to be around 110 to 130 watts to run 4.7, 4.8, 4.9 for different benches.
If you set it to 2 cores and 2 threads in the bios...You can run even higher over clocks. Superpi/cpuz validation/pifast. Some games even run way better in this mode.

    Brother Web!

You got any ways I might be able to test it for you?

I tried explaining that TS is really working. :D

what is the bsod code you get. This is very important. This code tells you what you need to add.

Will tell you in a sec.

5 Flex, 100 Priplane, 45x was stable and the best so far. But I was 1 second before finishing the Vantage CPU test and I got a thermal shutdown. Then again, the laptop was on my lap.. I did have the CPU vents clear and fans at max

Yup, happens if I have Flex set anything more than 0. With 44x and 0 Flex it's 100% fine.

With 45x and 0 Flex I get 2 kinds of BSOD.. man I need to analyse the dump but not sure where it goes

Just need that first set of codes.

    0x00000101

you may need to start at 10 flex and work backward then.

I raised it to 160a just now, no luck. Got another 3rd type of BSOD about interruption :/ lol

Calling it a night. My CPU says no to 0 Flex at 45x basically. 5 Flex is good, but I will work down to get the lowest possible

Thanks for all the help and guidance, I will test more tomorrow! :)

Maybe your chips is a 5 flex. Nothing wrong with that personally. And if you drop the temps by 5C, I bet it would run 0 flex.

But yes...You will have to play around to see the right combo....If it passes a vantage cpu test...then it should be considered pretty stable for anything else. (With in reason)

No problem, glad to help a bit.

My chips is a 6flex. I'm on 130w 130a and 6flex at the moment. Can't won't let me boot at 0. Occasional BSOD at startup at 5flex. I'm fine with everything as it is now though though :)

@Johnkss I haven't had a chance to run any benches yet.

@Rev welcome to the 20k club. Dell are hopefully gonna come around with a new 580m for me and I'll try and get a new score going. Reminds me of the good ol' 10k GPU score M15x days.

Setting TS manually at 130W works nicely... and temps are awesome. See example below. Thanks for the tip, Brother John. Did not know that the watts could be manually overridden in TS. +1 Rep

Brother Rev - awesome score bud! +1

You guys are doing so awesome stuff with the R3. I'm impressed with the scores I am seeing on single GPUs. Good job to all.

Wow seems like flex is a determining factor. I've got my PriPlane up real high @1600 = 200(a). Still can't complete the first Vantage CPU test @45x. I guess I just need 10flex. Not a hugh deal breaker for me, I can sort of keep the temps under control.

You may need more than 10 flex depending on what you are doing at the time. As long as you can control the temps effectively, adding flex is not a problem. I need 50 to 60 flex to hit 1.5v with 975 pri plane and HT disabled to successfully boot with 2 cores enabled at 49x. I'm too busy to do more testing right now, but I am sure I can hit 50x with the right combination of flex and pri plane.

    Freq : 4903.33 MHz (100.07 * 49)

Brother John taught me the same thing... we all have to drop the mental block about having to run a low flex number and just go for it to get better benchmark scores. As long as you are monitoring temps the worse that can happen is a BSOD and you'll have to try another setting. I spent at least 20 hours testing different settings before I found out what works best, and Brother GeoCake's 0 flex/880 pri plane was a great starting point for a stable place to work from. Also bear in mind what works best for one benchmark app might not be best for a different one. Getting Vantage dialed is one thing, but you may need to make minor adjustments to CPU and GPU to avoid lockup and BSOD running 3DMark11.

For benching purposes, you really need to run cooler....
And it's probably your cpu shutting the system off. Run wprime 155 1024/ 8 threads and watch the watts and the exact time it shuts off. this may help if you haven't done so already.

I think that is normal, but raising the thermal shutdown to 120 puts greater distance between the threshold for throttling and changes the TJ. Brother John can correct me if that is not correct, but I think this is how that works out.

Brother John, why you gotta come and put me down like that when I have a crappy GPU at the moment that will barely do 820Mhz in Vantage and not even hold 800Mhz in games. Do you cherry pick your GPUs?

3DMark11 has always been stabler for me because of the short runs. 885 core is awsome! However I see you lowered your memory clock. No higher on those then? I've always run my benches at 1Ghz memory.

    :D It's not like that Brother Widezu69. :)

Wow, didn't know your gpu was on it's way out either.. :(

No cherry picking, but i did notice that one of my gpus didn't have the right back plate, so that my be why this setup stunk at first. I made a temp back plate to cover the 4 memory chips not covered and it seems to be running like it should.

Yep, had too.. it wouldn't really fair well running even 900 on mem for that bench, but lower seems to have yielded a better score. I use to be able to run mem at 1025, but not any more.

Nice :) so it really does make a difference then.

Edit: Anyone make a guess at what these GPUs will be?
I'm gonna guess that the top 2 will be the two top Desktop GPUs. The GK106 will be a GTX 660 and a GTX 680m will be based off that. Then what looks like a 580m will be the 675m and the 192 shader one will be the 660m same as the 460m->560m
