hey there fellas, as the tittle suggest I've been offered a system exchange for an AW 17 R3 6700HQ, 4K screen, 16gb of memory and GTX 980M 4gb to replace my beloved R1 below in my sig. I'm unsure whether to accept this offer, I feel like the R1 was the last of a kind but a newer model might not be bad, as I only have 1 year left on my warranty. Overall the specs are improvement but I'm hesitant since most systems exchange are refurbs.

You are right that the R1 was the last of its kind. Everything after is all BGA so no hope for upgrades beyond what the motherboard comes with.

But, if the CPU is good enough for you, and you think you could use it for a few years without issue, the GPU is just a graphics amplifier away!

That has crossed my mind lol I accepted the exchange and it should be arriving tomorrow. I'm excited to get my hands on it and test out how it compares to the R1.

I might have held out/asked for a 6820HK(?). Your 4910MQ can be overclocked, that 6700HQ cannot.
