Don't even try to fight for an M18x. I've been there and it wasn't pretty. Besides, you're lucky, they tried to send me a 6870 in replacement for my dual 5870's. Man I bet the neighbors woke up that night from my rage.

Yeah I would say that's an awesome replacement, if you were getting a replacement for a very high spec'd dual gpu R2 I might say fight for an M18x but given the fact that that R3 will slap your R1 around and the M18x is in a total different class performance wise I'd say go for it.

Well actually I was supposed to get an R2 that was pretty maxed out but they didn't have the parts for it so now they offered an R3

It's entirely up to you then, the R2 with a 920/940xm in it, Xfire 5870's, and an RGBLED is actually going to perform just a bit better but you lose battery life and a few other options. It's really dependant on what you want, either machine will be a great rig it just depends if you want the newest card/cpu with other options and more portability, or if you want a very good dual card config that's less portable and 1 generation old.
