Just ran into a guy selling Old stock M17X for pretty cheap on Kijiji Canada.
Price is really really tempting, I'm thinking that I can only play BF3 on low settings, but It should totally work with playing WOW.
    What do you think?
But by the weight that shows on the spec, it seems like it's the M17X R2.

that's a steal...good price. You can always upgrade the graphics card after. In fact, you can upgrade almost every piece after if you wish including CPU, ram, SSD's Vid card, even sound ;)

Thats an R3 from the looks of it. But the Resolution is 1900x1080, not 1200.

    It is R2. It's HM57 meaning 1st gen mobile i7s so therefore it's not 2720QM but 720QM @ 1.6Ghz.

    The 2720QM is actually 2.2Ghz.

Another clue is the screen res - the R2 is @ WUXGA which is 1920x1200 whereas the R3 is @ 1080p

Sorry to burst your bubble, but $850 would be just too good of a deal for an R3!

r3 has the 1920x1080 display and the sandybridge processor. M17x-r2 has the 1920x1200 display and the 460m was never sold in them?

Ya...the specs on this computer are completely wrong.

This is an R2? Then the $850 is within the ballpark. It would have been a steal for an R3

Yeah, It seemed like the R2, so I asked if he sees any other Alienwares on his order sheet. He sent me this for other options.

Now these are the real R3, but none of them has 1080p display nor blueray.
Even if he is legit, now it seems like a soso deal now. I want the 1080p and blueray!!

Oh well search begins again! Thanks for all the comments everyone, You guys rock!

lol, i'm supposed to drive over and pay cash when I pick it up, so I think it is the proper alienware M17X, just as he mentioned, Old stock, but possibly No warranty.

Yeah, I think I'm going to wait for a mint one to pop up on market place, or wait to see what happens on Boxing day(Canadian Black friday) :D
