Check the display tab in the advanced power plan settings, there should be something like adaptive backlighting.

If you don't know how to go to the advanced power plan settings windows, follow this tutorial. Power Plan Settings - Change in Windows 8

i looked into advance settings and i don't see it. Also i have win7 btw so is that a win 8 thing? Also it was more so happening rapidly and sporadically. As if my screens adapter is loose type of thing.

    Using intel graphics?

Go to control panel for intel graphics driver, power settings and disable adaptive contrast for battery mode.

so yea when i looked at for the adaptive display it wasn't there and even the guide said it wouldn't show unless your have a hardware sensor, which i have never heard of the R4 having one...nor would i suspect it would.
