for thous who want/need to run optimus but it no longer works
    60hz monitor
    OP:
    https://communities.intel.com/thread/24790

step 1 is to uninstall the currently installed Intel and nvidia graphic drivers

step 2 iboot on the intel graphics adapter (IGFX)

step 3 - the OS boots with no video device found

step 4 - after the reboot, the latest intel driver

step 5- reenable optimus in the bios (SG)

step 6 - reinstall the nvidia drivers

in the op the say to use windows update to get the driver DO NOT look on the intel website find you processor find which Intel hdXXXX it is an download the latest driver

this worked for me (on a m17x r4 60hz screen) it might not for you any damage you do to your laptop is not my resposiblity i didnt come up with this fix just posted it here for others

    Thanks for sharing your fix.
But as you will be quick to realize, especially on the Alienware threads, people tend to treat Optimus like cancer (which isn't far from reality to be honest)
So doubt many here will test your fix...
