We'll cutting a long story short, im getting contacted by a replacement team to talk me to about my r2, replacing my 8 month old r1 this wednesday. I Phoned sales with the fake intentions of buying CF 5870's on M17x r2 and if it was available, the guy went to check and said i can do that for you if u want to order sir, i said i would contact him again! Just incase this was a one off case, i phoned just now to a sales person, who said she would phone me back, 30 mins later got a call back, she said yes we can make 5870 CF for you if u want to order, and i promoted her that i would call her back! so Yes you can get CF 5870, just phone up and order youre machine =) o and also. i asked why it wasnt on the site, and if it would be on the site, she said that it wouldnt be. I asked why was this, and she said that bascially 1 in every 100 calls ask for CF 5870's and only a few cases want it! soo either there holding back till E3 to unvail new cards or not many want it! who knows! but u can order it =)

On wednesday i plan to ask for CF 5870s in the replacement deal hopefully! even tho the CF might not work, it might some point after a bio or driver update!!

sorry for spelling/grammar im abit dyslexic.

I would bet money you won't get them. Everyone who has tried had their order cancelled on them. They will most likely be available in the US first.

There have been 2 or 3 people in the uk on these forums that have tried and said they ordered over the phone. That was a week or two ago. None of them ended up being successful. I hope you are right though.

Yea, my guess is that reps have no idea what they are selling. It's all numbers to them 48, 58, 98 ect, makes no differance.

I wasn't trying to be rude if it came of that way.

But that line.. couldn't care what others think is what they all used (now I don't hear a peep from them :( )

We're not trying to call you a lier, but more we want proof for ourselves, so we can rejoice in the fact these exist and will come to USA/Australia soon!

Yea, LIKE I said, no-one puts a screenshot. Copying and pasting the order form doesn't show us anything.. we're hungry mo-fo's for proof.

That and we can't believe it till you get it. Screenshot first though.

EDIT: According to my previous post.. a computer with THAT config comes to £3,114.00 (without the blu-ray). Whats going on there.. a 1000 pound discount?

EDIT 2: Didn't realise you only had the 820. How much of a discount did you get still?

I actually can take a screenie of my Order Receivement mail where it clearly says :
    490-12186 Graphics : Dual CrossFire 1GB ATI GDDR5 Mobility Radeon HD 5870
But why bother? 2 days after that i got a mail from Dell saying my order was cancelled because some parts could not be manufactured.

Exactly, they don't have the CF 5870 kits on the production line. So obviously it will either get cancelled once it hits the build stage, or you will receive 4870s instead.

I think we'd all appreciate it, if the next time somebody posted that Xfire 5870's were available, it would be on the website, not 'they heard from a rep', or 'custom ordered through a rep'. This forum has had way too much heresay on this topic and it has people on edge. Either that, or the next person that does this, and it's not available, prepare for a mob attack.

Yeah. I called and got the runaround about no CF 5870 configs being available.

I've got a very narrow window, I can't wait much longer. I will probably have to order the single GPU 5870, or I'll never be able to get a laptop here.

I wonder how different the heat sink ect. are between these and the 4870s?And if there is a way to see if the pin from the cf cable on the 4870 is compatible with the 5870 cf connector. It might be time to find the part number and order 2 to see if it is possible.
