Hello everyone, so here is what I have been going through since last 2 months briefly,

    Ordered Alienware 17, somehow screen was damaged than a replacement was ordered it got lost somewhere at fedex? Now they want me to wait another 8 business days for it, which I won't be able to... Because i won't be able to last without a laptop anymore and I am ready to compromise for the setup I required which was;
    4910mq,120hz screen with 880m

Now that I am over with it, I might just be okay with 4710mq without a 3d for a fast delivery somehow, my question is "Is there any store where the laptop is readily available to pick up."? Or a credible resseler online?

Any guidance will be more than appreciated thank you :)

Pakistan eh, can't you just cross the border to India and get the laptop there? or just go to Alienware india and buy there?
I believe buying direct is much better than waiting for shipment w/ risk of damage.

XoticPC ships internationally. It will take a long time, though.

Actually they do have retail stores, but you can only buy whatever spec they have in stock.
Store could probably handle custom orders, but i doubt the price would be lower than the online store.
On the other hand, buying from store, you can guarantee your computer is in working order rather then being sent a DOA unit and then went through all the hassles of cust. support.

There are no Alienware stores. There are stores that happen to sell Alienware products, but they're not Alienware stores.

You got it, but since AW is under Dell now, usually you can find AW in Dell stores, tho like i said, selections are much to be desired.
IMO buying from reseller online store such as XoticPC as you mentioned would be more reliable than Dell official online store.... Ironically.

Why do you say this? I'm looking to buy an Alienware 17 myself - I'll be buying it from the US via a friend who's coming to India in 2 months.
Sadly I missed the 20% coupon off deal. :(
I did look at the XOTIC PC site but why would that be better?
    Thanks.

XoticPC is not better than purchasing directly through Alienware, lol. No, no, no. Do not believe that. If you can, just order it through Alienware's official website. Speak to a representative and ask for additional discounts. Considering the new stuff is coming, you should be able to easily negotiate.

I only recommend XoticPC to those who live outside of the U.S. and are unable to order through Dellienware. ;)

    We're not too horrible :(

Plus all our 17" models we have on our are in stock except the 3D models which can be ordered pretty quickly. So the turn around is pretty short. International shipping times can take a while though. Since we have them in stock the build times are the same as all the other brands we offer for customization.

For frame of reference, when J.Dre had ordered his machine through us it was during a period where Dell wasn't shipping the machines too quickly and even their own orders ordered directly were seeing some pretty significant delays. We've been working with Dell to improve this process with us as well as the way we handle their inventory to alleviate similar situations from happening again but unfortunately at the time that they were going through the ordering it was pretty much a nightmare of wait time for us as much as the customers. As of now though we rarely have any issues from having learnt how they work with their retailers on the original problem.

Whoa, I meant no offense. Just doesn't seem logical to order from a third-party if you can order directly from the manufacturer, assuming you don't want customizations. I love the fact that XoticPC exists. You guys offer good services and great support. I personally recommend you guys to everyone I know who's outside of the U.S. that wants a PC.

No offense meant, I think Hutsady and I both saw this at the same time and had our replies being written out without realizing we were both writing, sorry if it was taken that way. We actually typically have a faster turnaround time than Alienware directly, at least as far as what I hear from what our customers switching over to us as well my experiencing ordering from them in the past. With rush it's possible to have it ship out same week and with normal production typically 2-3 weeks is average.

Well, I would have bought a Sager eyes closed from Xotic but I won't get a warranty here in India. It's between Alienware, MSI and ASUS for me and Alienware seems to have the best feedback in terms of customer service. They perhaps have the best balance in terms of parts availability worldwide, support and quality. And they look so damn good!

Thanks mate, I've tried negotiating but all they're willing to offer me is a 5% dell cash card and 2 day shipping. I've given the details in the post here.
How can I get a better deal?

Tell them you have a certain amount to spend and ask them to make you a quote with that price. You have to keep trying. Talk to as many reps. as it takes - 5 representatives or 20 representatives - if you want the best deal.

That is a downfall for Sager computers. You still will keep the warranty but do have to pay for shipping in and back for any warranty service. To help save a few bucks you can just send in the bad part though instead of the whole computer. And if you're comfortable replacing parts yourself you can do that and it wont void warranty on the rest of the parts.

I'm worried about the monitor tbf, I may have to source parts from abroad, then the shipping, import duties, etc. Oh! and the waiting.
Just a matter of time hopefully before Sager arrives here. The market is picking up for gaming laptops.
Till then it'll be the Alienware, MSI and ASUS. Not bad options tbf!

So I finally placed an order for the Alienware 17, I got a $100 ($1899 - $100) off coupon, 5 % gift card and free 2 day shipping.
I bought this through a friend in new jersey who'll be getting it with him when he returns on his hols.

The dell rep told me that the tax will be $125 but when I bought the system, it charged me 0 tax.
Can I expect this to be charged later or have I been lucky? :D
