I can't believe how excited I am, there is no chance of me getting anything done at work today![]()
So hopefully when I finish work, I will get my new replacement lappie... Apart from the obvious (Creating the back up disks), what would you recommend I do.
I am thinking the first thing is to install Crysis and put all settings up to the max and spend 20 minutes kicking ar5e![]()
What did you all do when you first got your M17x?

and directX
and if you talk about Crysis Warhead, dont get your hopes too highif you put everything maxed out you will get some fps drops, you have to make it less, specially the resolution, if you put it on 1900*1200 you will feel some lag

meh not entirely true, i can run it maxed out.... but obviously you need to tweak warhead to your likings first, also download chrome's ultra quality nanosuit cus its DA BOMB if you show it off to your friends when playing
dont play call of duty, its stupid, and everyone can run it.... that stuff doesnt come out on consoles if it was too demanding, the config is for crysis 2 on consoles looks worse than crysis 1 on low on pc lol you can look up those comparison movies on youtube if you want, but anyhow....
install the multitouch drivers for the touchpad!! pinch zoom works like a charm, i discovered it after a few days so its like getting another present xD -

I would check what gpu drivers are installed...Dell 8.763 are their latest offering....I would also check to see what Vbios they have you running on out the box.
If you open Catalyst control centre, go to the information tab, the praphics software should tell you the driver you are using, and the graphics hardware tab next to it will tell you the vbios version you are using...the latest vbios will be shown as:
BIOS Version 012.020.000.027
If its different to that, I would be looking at flashing to the latest vbios and maybe trying out AMD drivers (10.12 are the latest for mobility atm)
Other than that (and checking everything else is up to date and you have created recovery media) I would just have a good ole play about with it, maybe download a few benchmark tools like vantage, 3dmark06 or 3dmark 11.....they will let you know if the system if performing as it should by the scores you get.
Also, with Crysis, make sure you have the latest patches installed to make sure it runs properly...can be found at the Crytek website....also, maybe worthwhile downloading the Crysis benchmarking tool (just google it) and see how well your system handles the game....
Have fun with it! -
Out for delivery today... So what should I do first
