    Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me out please.

    I bought an M17X R2 from the outlet with X-Fire HD5870 and a i7-920XM.

The inital 3DMark06 with the offical Dell Drivers was ~19500 and all looked OK.

Today I installed Crysis and I noticed that there was tearing and purple patches in the game.

Now when I run 3DMark06 I am getting around 9800 in 3DMark06. I have uninstalled/ reinstalled and uninstalled the drivers a few times (deleting the CCC and the display adaptors as well as running Driver Sweeper).

Do the purple patches indicate one of the cards is fried? Any diagnostics I could run?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, is the laptop running in stealth mode. If not try using GPU-Z to check the clock speed and temps. If still happening contat Dell, i believe they still offer 90 days for outlet.

Hi and thanks for the advice.

I tried GPU-Z and both cards appear normal with X-fire enabled and I tested and it showed a temp of 73degrees for one and 79 for the other.

Maybe time to contact Dell and send it back and get an exchange. I am at a loss as to why the 3D Mark06 has dropped unless only 1 card is running.

I installed the Stealthmode indicator and the alien head is showing green.

I may try a system restore and if it continues it is going back.

    Thanks for the help guys.

PS - I am sure Crysis should not have purple patches so I think one of the GPU's may not be doing it's job properly.

I had a similar problem with the Asus W90 when I had it. It's most likely an issue with either the Crossfire Cable or one of the cards. Since you bought it from the outlet (which should offer some type of warranty standard), I'd get Dell to fix it asap.
