    Hi everyone,

    I have a m17x r3 with 2670qm i7 processor, 16gb RAM Corsair Vengeance (at 1600mhz) and a gtx580m, at 720 /1600.

I am trying to overclock fsb with A08 unlocked bios on my m17x r3.
As it was mentionned before, I have the possibility to adjust to 103, 104mhz the FSB.
In my case, 101mhz is too much! 3dmark 11 has lots of graphic bugs (blue, pink screen...)
At 103mhz, the laptop shuts down about 2 min. of 3dmark 11.
    I don't understand why I can't obtain a stable laptop.

    Where is the problem?

Thanks a lot for your support.

Try another bench program other than 3DMark and see if its was just that. If it was, THEN you can freak out.

The problem is that the Sandy Bridge systems don't like the BCLK to be pushed much beyond stock. Although a few users (very few) have reported overclocking the BCLK to ~104MHz, most are not happy when o/c'ed and become unstable above 101Mhz. Mine tops out around 100.7MHz. You're better off to leave BCLK at 100MHz and look elsewhere for overclocking.

Thanks for giving me these informations, I though all of us could apply more than 101mhz...
I will modify the turbo mode...

The few times I've tried to overclock the FSB, I've run into instability as well. It's almost not even worth it, in my book. I've had much more luck overclocking the GPU instead.

Yeah, when you OC the BCLK (Base Clock I believe) you're overclocking EVERYTHING. Memory, PCI bus, NB/SB, etc. So once it causes a problem there is pretty much no way to tell which 'bit' is unhappy. Never recommended in the OC'ing forums I used for my desktop :D

With a 2670QM, that's not possible either. Start saving up for a 2920XM if you want to play with the Turbo Ratio Limits and Turbo Power Limits.

Ok! Thank you for your answers!
    I've tried with 100.4mhz, 3dmark11 turns around 3850. With 100mhz fsb, I have 3980. What a beautiful gain... :)

Incredible! You was scared about what? Temps?

    Do you performed with 3dmark11?

    I have 100,1mhz now, with 718/1600 on gtx580m, and I have 4010 pts, it's a little bit better.
