Well my laptop overall runs pretty good except everytime I load Split Second it errors out before I even get to the main page, not sure the reasoning.
The question I had is I think I could get a little more performance if I could push a few more hundred mhz.
Is there a exact way to overclock this thing since it is disbaled by default from dell?

I think the max stable OC I have heard of was 1.8GHz or so

How do I do it?
-
Throttlestop I guess. I wouldn't think a 200MHz OC would do much simply because the 720 wasn't designed for overclocking a lot. Where the 920/940 Extreme CPUs were made for OCers and this is why dell allows you to overclock them whereas the 720 - 840(Think?) voids the warranty.

I just donated some money to Abo to get a key and then use the ICS9LPRS365BGLF pll clock generator to OC my CPU.
Set 00/00 to 29 from 21
00/0C you want to change that to 20 from 16
00/10 this is where all the magic happens; 31 is stock but you can get it up to 39 with some voltage tweaks in the bios (Vcore voltage settings using 75mv or 150mv)
00/0F is another part of the magic; this can be changed to either 18 or 98 depending on the stability
Mkelliny + others helped us out last time with these instructions. Very helpful indeed. Games like FIFA11 get a noticeable speed improvement while others will be more subtle.
The settings I normally use are 29, 20, 98 and 38.
I sometimes use 29, 20, 98 and 39.
They run very stable for the most part.
Cheers. -
Yes, I think tonight ima go ahead and reformat the entire machine and start over yet again...I'm not sure what exactly is going on but I was consitently 14k with 1 vid card when I had the machine now its lucky to pull 12s sometimes 13 but that 1k in points is a difference in gaming so tonight I'll start over I suppose.

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
College kid I have my 720 overclocked to 1.812/3.2 ghz using a combo of 38/18 in set fsb. I can go higher I have hit upto 1.844/3.3ghz with voltage increases and memory voltage increases to 150mv/1.7v, but I just prefer using stock so I stick with the 1.812 as my daily overclock temps are amazing no problems there I used Tuniq TX-4 my max temps are 69,68,68,66 overclocked Reborn can verify.
REBORN bud I am glad to see the mods sorted that out and you are still here! Also if you paid ABO you should use the ASUS G73 PLL and use the Sliders(that is what I do now) -
