I recently noticed that in my Device Manager there's a device called "PCI Simple Communications Controller" with not driver installed. I've reinstalled all the drivers that apply to my system but it still says "No driver found". Does anyone know what this device is? I thought it might've been the Realtek card reader but I've installed the drivers for that already and it works just fine. This one really has my stumped.

edit: Figured it out. It's the Intel Management Engine Interface. My system seems to run just fine without it. Anyone know what this driver is for/what it does?

edit2: Found some vague descriptions of the driver; something about remotely controlling the computer? I don't think I'll be installing the drivers for this since I never use remote access.

The Intel Management Engine is used by Enterprise level businesses mainly. It links in with the VPro technology for remotely accessing the laptop if it is locked up. For a consumer product, I would not worry about it and would ignore it unless you plan on making use of it, though that would require you having access to other software that is enterprise class as well. :)

You could just do windows update and that should take care of it for you.

Yea, that was my conclusion as well. I figured that I wouldn't need it so I'll probably just leave it alone.

I tried Windows Update and it didn't find any relavant drivers which was what kinda stumped me in the first place.
