    Hello fellas,

Just as of an hour back I played dota2 and I was off for a min and upon coming back I saw machine was black but on, and I did a hard reset and upon rebooting what I found was I no longer had NCP thus noticing that immediately I had opened the hatch and tried to reseat without removing the heatsink (Didn't had gloves / TIM / Rubbing alcohol / No compressed air) as it was not possible I had to remove it fully with esd strap this time didn't even bother to get a repaste, tried this two times and card wont be detected, tried DDU safe mode and fn+f5 (GFX mux switch on 17R1) I don't even know which mode the machine is in now after Intel HD drivers since the GPU is not showing up & only IGFX drivers load. device manager also wont show 860M...

Machine is out of warranty. How can I know which one's having the fault, unfortunately no friend of mine has an MXM machine to test the GPU. I'm worried now , very unfortunate :( !

Any suggestions are welcomed, Is there anything I'm missing ?? need to resolve this ASAP. Help please.

    Thanks.

Deploy date - Oct 2014, Had this happened before but that time I resolved it by re-seating.

P.S - Ordering a TIM / can of Air (pls link which one to get) / gloves / IPA 99% (better than 70% right ?) soon.

Edit : ePSA Pre-boot diagnostic - all passed.

Dead GPU from the looks of it.. Your more likely to have a dead GPU then dead PCIE slot... it looks like it's dead since you can't see the 860M or install drivers...

    Ok then,
I too suspect that and sad part is I never used custom vBIOS either 86.1% ASIC(doesn't matter with single GPU iirc), was thinking about it this weekend but .... :(

I'll get a 780M now from NBR marketplace and will give a shot then seems like the only option to test, have a 100W heatsink with me but need to order a 250W adapter now. I know sounds too dumb but I can't just live with full UEFI, atleast on this machine and that absurd win10 OS bricking the panels. For performance I'll get a clevo when needed...

330W is not necessary for 780M + my 4710MQ right ? Seems like it fits more of an MX CPU with 980M.

EDIT: I changed my mind to grab a 330W Delta anyways so many benefits :D

    UPDATE :

    Read this https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/pcie-slot-stopped-working.191390/

    I see mine's showing
http://postimg.org/image/i6jw7vz8f/ Which is normal for AW17 (I thought #2 was missing and that seemed like an issue), thanks @Papusan for the same screenshot in device mgnr

And with AIDA64 Extreme I found this one - http://postimg.org/image/3syh99ov1/

Notice that PCIE port # 1 says Empty while I have my GPU plugged in.

So what you make of it ?? , I say my 860M is done I'm 90% sure of it now..fingers crossed.

860M is fried for sure.. Don't know why you went for a 780M however get the 970M.. Honestly so much better.. 330W PSU is not needed either way as if you OC, you don't have extra CPU power draw to worry for that much since its just a 4710MQ and not 4910MQ..

I know friend but, I cannot use full UEFI or the post Win7 OSes..I'm not ready for that yet, I'll stick to legacy till it exists...But I really do want that maxwell GPUs.

    I'm thinking of 330W PSU till EOL just in case, if I may upgrade to a 980M / 4910 / 4930MX later..

But I'll weigh what I have here for the 980M and the sacrifices I need to make to make it run on this...then will pull the trigger.

EDIT : Add this - I wish I had courage to go balls to walls with svl7 sbios chip hardmod saving from this half measure of maxwell+aw with inf's and full uefi, and get throttling / nvram reset pita in return, If I had another machine I would have done that..too bad

EDIT 2 : Forgot that would only fix the NVRAM and add a few options, the maxwell + legacy is a tough one maybe only upto AW's B$ to fix, which we all know they won't.
