    Hello fellow M17X owners
I've decided to build a solution for my Audiophile needs.
I drag my laptop around everywhere I go and was tired of using headphones and wanted something much louder to get me into the action. I have a Logitech Z-5300 5.1 THX Certified surround system at my home which sounds amazing but I needed something for the Go!!
I did some research on the internet and purchased what I think was the best sounding 2.1 stereo system for the price. I didn't want to get to expensive. This is for portable use only!! I bought the Logitech Z-2300 and modded it to be carried around.
Here are the pics! It sounds freaking awesome!!! Very Crisp Highs and nice punchy bass! It weighs about 30lbs and works great with an iPod too. I just took it to Las Vegas for my hotel room with my homies. Gotta have music for pre-drinking!!! No more crappy iPod speakers my friends use. :)

I used double locking 3M Velcro strips to attach the speakers to the subwoofer box. They don't move at all. They can be taken off easily and reinstalled depending on my needs.

I decided to secure the wires for a simple and clean look! Since they are secured the speakers won't be able to be moved like satellite speakers. I was going for ultra portable so this is good for me.

I used a 3M double locking Velcro strip for the Volume Control Module and secured the wire for a nice clean look! I also bought a heavy duty door handle from Home Depot with some stainless steel hardware. Since the Z-2300 is heavy I decided to take the amp off the rear of the Sub box and use heavy duty bolts with locking washers with nylon locking nuts from the inside to fasten the handle on the top. I also found the center of gravity so when I carry this Bad Boy around she is balanced.

I also gave her some shoes. I hammered in plastic feet with felt pads for easy maneuvering. I didn't want to scratch the under carriage.

I did the best I could to hide and secure all the wires.

Here is what she looks like at my GF's house.

The sound is incredible with all games especially BFBC2!
It is overpowering! I can't even turn it past 1/2 on the dial without bothering the neighbors. The bass dial is a nice feature too. No distortion at high volume too. I havn't even tinkered with the EQ or Audio settings on the laptop yet either. All in all I'm very happy with it. :)

Nice little boom box for mobile gaming/show off, but music listening? I'm against it.

Also, it is not the best 2.1 PC speaker system in the market. Probably one of the best under $150 category, but the likes of Focal XS puts this to shame. The audio world is vast and deep. I started with $300 Klipsch promedia ultra, and one point my audio system was more expensive than my BMW.

You should definitely separate them and put those satellites on something solid when you are listening to music at home.

I did read it, but mentioned anyway since you didn't mention your home set ups. Btw, what kind of DAC do you have for your Ultrasone?

I currently use a Musiland DAC. Im in the process of selling both the DAC and the Pro 900's. I have a buyer in Canada. I need the $$. Im undecided on the Beyerdynamic or the Audio Technica AD700's with boom mic mod. Im on Head-Fi and found a guy on the east coast who can mod them for me. I decided that the G35 is good for gaming but not for music. A pair of Audiophile headphones will be good for both. What do you recommend?

Which Beyer? I had the AD700 and loved it for gaming, mainly CS and SC. :) You can get a pair for like $80 from BC, who is an authorized ATH dealer.
I have no idea about the mic mod so you should ask someone who is more knowledgeable in that area.

The Beyer 880. I'm leaning towards the AD700
I'm not a big fan of purple and gold on the AD700 but I remember one night reading on Head-Fi.org everyone loved the soundstage!! It seemed that everyone owned a pair of these headphones!! There on Amazon.con for like $90 plus free shipping. I might just get me a pair and have them re-cabled with Silver Dragon Cable :).

Get it from beachcamera on ebay. That's where everyone buys their AD700 from.

Skip re-cabling. It has practically no bass, and silver cable is just going to make it worse, not to mention the benefit of recabling would be very small, if any. Spend that money elsewhere. :)

yea your right! Recabling is a waste of $$ but it looks cool :)
How did you like your AD700? When you say it has no base, does it still sound good in FPS games?

It was great for gaming. I could hear the footsteps precisely in CS. I should also mention it was the ONLY headphone I used to play games with. I did not dare to try my higher end ones for games.

It has some bass, but nothing shaking. Open cans usually don't have much bass to begin with.
