    Pad Thickness For 4870's

    Hi
    As title states am i correct in thinking its 1mm Thermal pads for the 4870 cards ?
    Going to repaste them and change the pads but want to make sure i get the right thckness .

    i found that using ceramic TP, even though the heatsinks don't touch the memory completely flush, actually improved my temps over thermal pads. I think you want to stay away from silver TP on the memory though

    Yes the 4870s were 1mm thickness thermal pads and the
    5870s can use 0.5mm thickness thermal pads for best cooling efficiency.

    Also recommended is Tuniq TX-4 or MX-4 thermal paste for GPU or CPU dies.
