It's called a wear-n-tear ... nothing will look like it was from day one. It goes for any product. It will eventually wear to a certain extent. I understand this " I spent a lot of money on a high end laptop " ... but you have to understand that from usage , it bounds to happen. You don't even have to touch it for it to degrade .. just my .02 cents on cosmetic.

No I don't think you understand....

This has been a problem for a lot of people, including people that don't use the media bar. My newest R4 has the pain coming off to the left of the media bar, which I don't run my fingers over. If you tilt the screen far enough back in the right light you can see the paint sticking to the screen, which is not wear and tear, it's bad design. The same goes for the keyboard touching the screen and leaving an imprint on the screen after it was opened. It is easy enough to get around when you use a microfiber between the screen and keyboard when you close it but in all honest we shouldn't have to.

its wear and tear bud.... only way to fix it is to use a microfiber cloth. Its a problem on almost all machines with edge to edge glass. Look at the mac books and the issues they have had.

I have had my 17 since September and have not noticed any keyboard imprints on the screen as you describe. The aluminium bezel where the power/status bar lights are also seems as it was when I bought it

Mine is only 6 months ish old? and it looks terrible, there is paint missing all over the place, and this was happening within 24 hours....not really what I would call wear and tear, but whateves apparently I am wrong on that according to everyone else.

Thanks Vortex, good to know that they may have solved the problem.
