as the title states i would just like to know if this model blu ray burner will fit in the r4?

No, it will not. The m17x's use a slot-loading drive, the UJ-240 is a tray loading drive.

New Panasonic UJ-240 6x Blu-Ray Drive Burner Slot load for Notebook Laptop UJ240 | eBay -
Mmm, no. The seller is incorrect. The fourth photo for that item (one furthest to the right) show that it is a tray-loading drive. Obviously slot-loading drives would have had a slot for loading on the front. I'd contact the seller and ask if they loaded the wrong pictures for the drive...but all the sites I've looked at for the UJ-240 specify it is a tray-loading drive. Check out the Panasonic Blu-Ray drives page. The 135A, 225B, and 235A should be slot loading and SATA, so they would fit into the R4.

Sony Optiarc BDRW BD-5850H fits perfectly. 6X burner with BDXL support. 100GB
Build one in to my R4 and priced at 80 euro. -
-
Will this Sony also fit in the M17X R2 ... does that front bezel come of or does it need to come of to fit in the machine . I assume it will need to come off
-
comes with bezel but with 2 clicks it's off. if R2 has sata connector for optical it will fit.
yes bezel needs to be removed. -
That's what I thought, I figured the drive needs to be flush up against the slot in the chassis like the stock one.
-
yea newegg has this sony drive for 175, i am trying to justify the price but that is way too much... trying to find a cheaper solution, anyone else have any suggestions?
thanks for the help though, If i had the money i would have jumped on that drive immediately -
So far, no. Not unless you want to browse those foreign sales website...you know, the Indian ones. But those sound kinda iffy to me.
-
that's 143 euro.. i bought mine in the netherlands for 89 euro = 108 dollar.
normally it's cheaper in us, this is the first i see you guys get ripped -
Nice, but will they ship to the US?
-
that is true, first time i saw us get ripped off. Do you think that website will ship to the U.S., 108$ is a much more reasonable price
-
no shipping to US.. i could ship it but probably customs will add some import costs..? i know that if i buy hardware from states and import it the dutch customs will screw me over for 18% taxes
-
Its not the taxes I worry about. I know if an overseas company wants to ship products to the US they need to have some sort of US imports license. It probably costs a bunch of money and for most its just not worth it.
-
that would be awesome if you can mail it to me. how can i figure out how much shipping would be and how do i avoid paying the import tax, what if you are just mailing it as a gift or something?
-
the gift part doesnt work anymore now a days..
-
Damn. I'll have to check into remailing services.
-
Do you think this will fit in?
