Why is the 6970m always getting higher scores than the more powerful 6990m and the 580m?

I checked last week, the 6970m was ranked 19th. I come back to check this week and it is now at 18th.

Is there something we're missing? I know there are places on notecheck where the 6970m got higher fps on Crysis than the 580m.

This website really bothers me for some reason..........

I believe this is most likely because some of the ~50 people submitting scores for the 6970 probably overclocked while the 9 people with 6990 scores didn't.

    just a guess.

I think the real problem is that Passmark can't tell the difference between the 6990M and the 6970M, reporting both in the System info section of the Performance Test as "AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series," so there is no telling what is included in those card averages. It also seems to have problems with the switchable graphics setup, reporting the graphics card as the Intel IGP in results submitted for my R3, even though the 6990M was active throughout the tests. I think you can safely ignore the Passmark database as a reliable source for relative performance data, at least insofar as these systems are concerned. The Passmark 3D Graphic Mark for my 6990M (completely stock) was 2670.7.

I got 2503 for my 6970m....still higher than the 580m.

I don't think it should have issues with knowing nvidia drivers.

Then you are blessed with an unusual 6970M. My 6970M (with a 920XM in an M15x) only scores about 2200 3D Graphic Marks at stock clocks (680/900) in Passmark. If you choose to believe that our 6970M's, or at least yours, are more powerful than the 6990M and 580M, then so be it, but don't bet the ranch on any showdowns.

I just got 2500 and you got a lot more, don't think I need any proof on which one's a better card. Here's my stat..

The 6990M has more shaders, and is a more powerful card. Go look in the benchmarks section. It dominates the 6970M in Vantage by ~2K points.
