I am trying to benchmark my system. I have noticed many people saying things like "Make sure Performance settings are on" or, "be sure to turn on extreme awesome performance extreme." How the hell do I do this? Where are these options and how do I assure they are on?

Also, how do I assure that Crossfire is enabled?

Also, sorry I am an utter noob.

With xfire 5870s, an i7 820, and 4 gig ram, 7,200 HDD, what should I expect in 3dmark06 and 3dmark Vantage? What about PCmark Vantage?

    Hey ya'll -thanks a ton.

Most people suffice to set Catalyst Command Center Settings to performance. There are three major settings to set
    1) set minimap to 'high performance'
    2) set Catalyst AI to standard
    3) set AA mode to MSAA
These are all found in the 3D tab.
You can verify CF is enabled through the Crossfire tab in the CCC or by GPU-Z

There are other things you can do, but those are the easiest and by far the safest.

It is not "important" but it is addictive It is just a numerical comparison between pc's Some of the guys here even go as far as to put their M17x in a freezer while benching to be able to get a higher stable overclock. For your pc I would run 3dmark06 3dmark vantage and the heaven demo to test your dx11.

I have a question for the experts: On the "All" tab in the 3D section of Catalyst Control Center, there is an option for "Wait for vertical refresh." Since I have Crossfire 5870's what should I put it on? Thanks!

unless you're having display problems or want to cap your FPS, leave it off.

First enable the Ati tray tool
at the ati tray tool make the crossfire logo appears when it can...
Run games that utilize crossfire like dragon age origins
if the crossfire working it should have a crossfire logo in the right up side...
