Hey all, first off a huge OCD warning here- I'm asking about something extremely small re: my new M17, so keep that in mind. I realize this is not a big issue.

That said, here's what I'm trying to figure out-

In my experience with the Alienware notebooks, small cosmetic details are not manufactured to really high end standards. One example is the alien head on the front flap cover. In many machines I've seen, the alien head will be slightly off kilter from the center line- basically rotated/cocked to one angle and not straight in line as you'd expect from a really well-engineered, carefully-manufactured piece of equipment.

My new M17 is no exception. The center line of the head is not vertical and in line with the center line running down the middle of the cover.

Can you guys with the new M17, if you're willing to take the time, post pics straight on of the front cover? No lights, all off. Just to where I can see if the lines match up? I'm curious if it's identical across the machines or if, yet again, there's big variability.

And, once more, this is fully OCD-aware and approved :). Posts of "just enjoy the machine" or "it doesn't matter" won't address what I'm trying to figure out. So if you can post pics, awesome.

    Thanks!

Interesting. From what I can gather yours seems to have it too (in the same angle). Yep, I know it's small, but it's something I can notice.

Will be curious to see others...

That would drive me insane, being in the engineering/construction field. Out of square=wrong, I'd end up fubaring the computer trying to fix it.

The angle of the photo makes it look like that. It's not crooked or anything. I just put a ruler down on the laptop cover and it lines up fine.

There's a small angle on the lid that lines up the AlienHead with the center of the two lights.

Lol that would drive me insane as well. The date indicator on my watch was off by barely a millimeter - enough so no one except me would actually notice it, and whenever I would look at my watch it would be the main thing I would focus on, not on the date, time, moonphase, etc. I refused to wear it until I ended up getting it tuned at the watch specialist

Good attention to detail, I haven't paid attention to our machine at the lab, will take a look and get back. We can't take pictures but I can use the ruler method as well.

It could be off slightly, but it's not really all that noticeable on my laptop. The AlienHead lines up fine, so I'm just going to assume it's OK.

If yours is really off, then yeah, I'd call them and discuss getting a replacement.
