meh.....I hope looks aren't everything because I Googled images of both those laptops and all I can say is "butt ugly" :D
In a place full of mactards who don't care about specs, my Alienware FX/Aluminium Construction alone reigns supreme.

A computer is a computer is a computer. I'd see an alienware laptop being no more attention getting than a macbook with it's light-up apple logo.

I think it might be slight overkill for word processing though, and in a business environment, I'd simply be worried about office hazards like someone fat-fingering their coffee mug and spilling it on your rig.

I brought my M17xr2 in for a presentation once to hook it up to the projector.. don't think anyone noticed the presentation.. all eyes were fixed on the computer. So good job for 1-upping me and taking into a business setting!

Nice picture, it looks great there! I went with the Nebula Red originally but I felt it would attract too much attention sometimes and that is a bit unwanted so I went with the Space Black not to mention most people did.

That's true but how many laptops are red? It just reduces the attention immediately. Without the lights and it being black on many people may not pay attention to the laptop as much.

I think the main issue with all other notebooks over mac was the operating system.

Now that Microsoft finally and proudly came up with an somehow a stable Win 7 after Win XP, which actually took them so many years and knowing that they had the failure of Win Vista, we can proudly show of the 'hardware' and looks of our systems.

Alienware now with this support for Win 7, better looks in front of Mac and not even considering what is 'under the hood', will always stand above them, atleast for a while.

P.S. I owned an MBP for not even a month and sold it out...

Nothing wrong with a big black lappy on the table... Apple had those black macbooks a few years back, which looked fine to me.
