So I ordered a 17 on the 21st and reading the forums I expected a long wait. Every day I check on my order and it always says "in production". Fine. Its only been a week or so but i decided to call support yesterday and see if there is any problems with my order, and they said they will look and see and get back to me with any news. This morning I checked order status again and it still said " in production". Fine. It's a beautiful day today outside (i'm sure you can feel where this is going) so I decided to go for a drive and get my truck washed. I'm gone 1 1/2 hrs and when I get home there is a Fedex delivery tag stuck to my door.(the time he was there was 10 minutes after I left) I check the website and the package weight is 16 lbs-no doubt the laptop! I call to see if I can go and pick it up at a Fedex facility and they say "no,not available-it's on the truck.. The facility closes for pickups at 5,and the truck/driver are out til 8 pm". She tells me that because of Labor Day weekend that another attempt to deliver will not be made until the 3rd. So that's 4 more days of my new laptop being thrown around on a truck, thrown around back into a warehouse, thrown back into a truck again, etc. And I check the order status and it still says "in production> Idiots! If I had known that it was even shipped and also that there was even a possibility that it was on a Fedex truck today I would have waited for it. I'm so, pissed at them. I can just see that box being thrown around for 4 more days than it already was

If it makes you feel any better it is thrown around much more during the actual production of the machine. There is a video on youtube showing it.

It'll be fine. The packaging is tightly fit to the laptop, and has adequate padding.

By the way, that video Mike is referring to is very old. It's possible things have changed, especially after a leak of factory conditions.

Yeah I've seen that video. I can't believe I missed the delivery by 10 minutes and now have to wait another 4 days. I've seen other more recent videos including Fedex,UPS,etc drivers and warehouse workers, throwing around boxes like crazy.
    Oh well....

edit: it's not the extra 4 days that bothers me...it's knowing that there are very lousy workers all over who have no respect for a package that may treat it like a piece of garbage.

It isn't like they are going to treat it any worse because you were not home....if it is going to get thrown around it has probably been done so already. And like J.Dre has said they are quite sufficiently packaged...They would have to really try to hurt it.

And if you're OCD (like I am) and find an issue, there is a 30 day return policy. ;) Returning it without an issue will result in a penalty (fee).

I wouldn't be worried about it. I'm sure it will be fine. Just make sure you're home at the time FedEx shows up.

Just be glad its coming by Fedex, I refuse to use UPS for anything as they have both delivered damaged items but also lost items and wouldn't pay full price to recover loss of item...
