    Hi All,

I am buying a U2711 tomorrow and was wondering if someone here could tell me what else I would need to buy to get it to work with my U2711 at 2560x1440.

I think I need a mini displayport but just wanted to double check exactly what I needed or is someone knows a way of getting it to work with HDMI?

    Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, you'll need a mini-displayport to DVI-D adapter; HDMI will only get you up to 1080P. Also, you'll need to make sure your GPU can push a monitor running at 2560x1440.

You don't really need to spend on an active adapter. The U2711 has a DP (displayport) input. So you'll just need to use a miniDP to DP cable and you're done.

If you want 2560x1440 with HDMI, forget about it. Both your laptop and the monitor input do not support resolutions above 1920x1080.

^ Thanks for clarifying. I was thinking of the old Ultrasharps that only had DVI-D input.

Hi there So I got the display port cable and my monitor just keeps flickering on and off.

    Any idea why this is?

    Hi,

    So I have a U2711 Monitor and a MX17 R3 with a 580M

Using a Mini DP to DP to obtain 2560 x 1440

All i see is the screen flicking on and off every second to two seconds. and sometimes when solid it is tearing (i think this is the correct term)

    Please any help or advice

    Have you tried another cable?

I solved a similar situation with mine just by using another cable.

I'm also curious about this... When I get my M17X R4, I plan on connecting it to one of those Korean 27" IPS monitors at 2560x1440. I really hope it'll work without any issues.

Does anyone have any experience with this? It'll be with the 680M card, btw, and with either a mini-displayport to displayport adapter or an active dual-link DVI adapter.

    Thanks!

Does the laptop work with a different monitor? Does the monitor work with a different computer? I had one that flickered badly and the monitor was defective.
