AFAIK QS = Qualifying Sample, similar to ES, Engineering Sample...

They will perform functionally the same as an OEM processor.

I searched some posts..found there are some bugs in QS..
But I don't know what they are...
Therefore, I worried about maybe QS won't perform as good as OEM..
I also worry about the quality in terms of temperature.

    I prefer OEM over QS.
Some people have mentioned that the QS throttles sooner (at lower temp) than an OEM chip does (100c for OEM)

Plus (shameless plug) I am selling a really great running OEM chip in this forum (check sig).

I had tested it for a week and all 4 cores would run on turbo using throttlestop with no issues (and no overheating) in my M17x-R2.

from what i've seen there is really no difference between the 2. actually in some cases the es/qs actually performs better.

D, I would love to buy the chip you are selling, just 500 is pushing my price limit, and on ebay you can find for around 375, which is even pushing it right now.

So, I'm gonna go ahead now and buy an i7-920xm QS from ebay for $343.00. Is there anything else I need to do to prepare to put the chip in? I have already taken apart my laptop down to the processor before.

I was reading a different part of the forum where people were saying that if you bought the extreme processor from Alienware itself you would have a 240watt charger rather than a 150watt, is this necessary?

    Thanks.

It is highly recommended. The processor + vid card + board more than 150 watts if it hits top power.
