Alrighty so... this is driving me mad.

The one RTS game I play the most right now is Company of Heroes with the Blitzkrieg mod added on. It's a LOT of fun and it's way higher paced than before. Anyway... The issue I'm having is that my GPU is literally sitting at 0% usage in GPU-z. I see the clock speed jumping around in game and... it works fine if there are no effects, explosions, dust clouds, hell even general smaller weapons fire, but the MOMENT something start happening, the GPU just throttles it seems.

I KNOW this GPU is stable. I can play Crysis 2 on high settings and run this thing at 100% usage and it never throttles from temps, so I'm convinced it's the drivers. This thing sits at 0% usage eventually and the game is still playable at like... 10 fps... sorta, till I get tired of it and quit.

So are there any newer driver sets out that WORK with this GPU? It's just frustrating to see this machine suffering with an older game when the hardware is more than capable of maxing out the settings... :(

    Anyone?

What drivers are you currently running? I've got the game but haven't played it in awhile. I'm currently running 13.4 which have been really stable and haven't tried 13.6 beta (but might be worth a try as well)

That's a good question... GPUz shows 12.9, however I just attempted to update to the 13.4 set and, while it says it was successful, after restarting it still shows 12.9. :(

I'll give the 13.6 beta drivers a try I suppose... don't like beta drivers though... never have.

There was an error where the version number would not get updated a while back, maybe you are running into that?

Yeah 12.9 are pretty old drivers, definitely should consider upgrading (don't need to go to 13.6, as you should be able to get to 13.4) I know there have been some pretty extensive changes in the drivers since 12.9..so maybe that'll help?

    Good luck!

Updated to 13.6 and so far it seems to run better. I didn't update to the 13.x series set because the only real improvement I saw was that it boosted the tessellation performance on the 7000 series GPUs. Didn't seem like I needed to update.

Gonna test a bit more and get a better idea of things.

Well 13.6 beta 2 are great for me.
Glad to hear an improvement :)

Seems to have improved performance across the board. If this improvement remains consistent, even Diablo 3 should run properly. :p

Always good to stay on top of your video drivers as a gamer :)

Well... I didn't update because the big thing about the 13.X set, again, was the tessellation boost and it didn't list any improvements for the 6000M series. :S

    So ja... >.>

I'm glad it's working better now with the new drivers. :)
