    Hello everyone!

I purchased an M17x last year, back when there were only Core 2 Due and Quad processors. Now I'm really considering to upgrade my processor to one of the i7 ones.

Can such upgrades be possible? does the same goes for the GPUs? In case I wanted to upgrade to 2 GTX 480 Sli?

    My current specs r:
    Processor Core 2 Duo T9800 2.93GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
    Memory 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz – 2 x 2048MB
Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, 2GB – SLI Enabled

agreed, there's not much else to say, In order to use an i7 you'd need a new mainboard, ATI graphics and CPU HSF.

Any DDR3 204pin RAM will work. 1066MHz or 1333MHz. I get mine form newegg.com In the M17x ther eare only two DIMM slots so you can only go up to 8GB. 2x4GB modules. Most people don't benefit from more than 4GB though.

If/when 8GB modules become avaliable, we should be able to use them. The Precision M6500 and other various PM55 i7 laptops have proven the MCH's in those processors can support bigger capacities than 8GB(4gbx4dimm configurations), even though the Intel datasheets say otherwise. Probally wouldn't even need a BIOS update since it's all integrated into the processor.

not arguing, just throwing it out there b/c I'm bored.
