Still getting my m17x r2 all set up this weekend. When I got my WEI this morning, I saw that my Graphics and Gaming Graphics subscores were both at 6.0... I know that WEI isn't the most precise indicator out there, but 6.0 is way too low for my system (in sig), isn't it?
I ran 3DMark06 and got an overall score in the 18k range. My ATI driver is 8.680.2.0, which appears to be the most recent one available from Dell. When I run HWiNFO32, the video adapter details tell me that one card has a processor clock of 300.0 mHz and a memory clock of 400.0 mHz (effective 800.0 mHz), whereas the other card has a processor clock of 250.0 mHz and a memory clock of 200.0 mHz (effective 400.0 mHz). The sensor status tells me that the temps on GPU#0 are in the high 40s with utilization of around 1-2%, but the temps on GPU#1 are in the low 40s with utilization of around 100%. That led me to think that Crossfire wasn't enabled, but the box in CCC to enable Crossfire is indeed checked.
Sorry about my noobish diagnostic ways... if there is information from any other utilities or benchmarks that you all would consider useful, just let me know. Thanks!

Theres nothing wrong. WEI is based on a 1-7.9 scale so 6.0 sounds about right. The reason your clocks are lower then the stock is because unless they are under full load, they don't clock up. They don't need to With an 18K 3DMark06 score, it looks like you system is working fine. I would just take the time to enjoy it and start gaming.

Hi theres and welcome.
18k sounds about right for your system specs. Cool.
With your WEI scores they should go higher once you have everything installed and setup on your system. Like updates and drivers. Give the system a restart before you run the WEI test again once everything is updated and stable. It should go higher. Prob closer to 7.
GPU-z is another great tool you can use to find out other info about your GPUs. There is a tab at the bottom to switch between both GPU cards. You can also run 2 GPU-z's side by side when testing games or other applications.
You can also try Dells other new driver if you like. the 10.8 8.763 one. That will also work for the 4870s.
Double check in GPU-z to see if it does say Crossfire is enabled or disabled. Judging by your 18k 3d mark 06 score it should be running fine. So all good there. If your not really having any major troubles then no need to change gpu drivers. Just see how they run and go 1st with games and applications you want to run now or later.
Also make sure to run the HWiNFO32 sensors monitor before and during any testing. If you have troubles with crossfire try disabling it in CCC and then re-enabling it again. Also could try newer drivers from AMD or the dell 10.8 8.763 one that is linked to the 5870 cards. They will also work for the 4870s.
Vantage is also another newer and good benchmarking tool a lot of peeps here on the forums like to use.
Cheers. -
Thanks for the advice! I didn't think that the 8.763 driver would apply to the 4870s, but I went ahead and installed them... and now both of the graphics WEI scores are at 7.2. 3DMark06 returns the same as before, 18533 overall. If you're saying it's good, then it's good and I'll stop obsessing
..only one nagging problem though. Before I updated my video driver, the hard disk WEI was at 6.9, and now it is at 5.9. What gives? I did just about every SSD optimization trick that I've read about, so I can't imagine what would cause it to drop a full WEI point.
Possible performance issue with my Crossfire 4870s
