So I posted about my laptops performance, this is a bit of a test of the community because I would post my specs like it didn't matter and of course without fail people saw the alienware lable and would downvote right?
Well this time I posted about my laptop and hid anything related to alienware about it in the post.
No mention of alienware at all, so what happens? Downvotes and spam "overpriced" bashing? Nope.
Upvotes and praise for latops Hurray!
    Was going great!

Then it got mentioned it was an alienware. Now every comment I made got mass downvoted.

    Your computer is great!
"Oh wait its an alienware? Nevermind"

Is this ever going to change? Even with alienware pressing the new quality of their machines, will this bull ever stop? The only people ive ever found that DON'T bash alienware are other alienware owners and people who've never seen or heard of them before.
Everytime I post my specs, and alienware pops up, its just mass hatred. Pretty much how I feel about this crap: --> http://i40.tinypic.com/2vmca5u.jpg

I love my M17X, its a crazy good gaming rig and I love how its portable and easy to just carry around on a daily basis, but god damn if I have to deal with these jackass'd people screaming foul...
I might just sell the damn thing, because im sick of peoples crap.

So people on the internet and who have never met you nor ever will are giving you crap about something you love and you're gonna sell it because THEY have a problem with it? Yup....sounds like the right thing to do. :[ Carry on....geez! Since when did people start caring so much about what others think abou them? Especially people in which they will never see or meet.

Word of mouth. Dell was considered "crap" and since Dell purchased Alienware, it has the same stigma.

Personally, I wanted to give Alienware a chance and was happy for a long time until my laptop started having issues. I hope that AW comes through for me, because I'm tired of jumping through hoops and having multiple techs come out. If it ends up badly, I assure you I'll be telling friends and family to avoid them like the plague as well.

ignoring razer for the moment, AW is like the apple of gaming laptops. not necessarily a bad thing, it just is what it is. both apple and AW make a great product.

    Well Alienware really IS overpriced

Compare MSI or Clevo against an Alienware with same specs, and you have to dish out a whole lot more money for the Alienware. Not $50, not $100, not $200 but $500++.
Now there are some goodies that may justify the price. Alienware warranty is one of them. You can forget about having a dedicate repair man coming to your house to fix your problems if it would occur on an MSI or Clevo. We are talking several weeks to month before it is taken care of.
But also consider that most notebooks do work without problems. And many people do not want to be forced to pay extra for the warranty.

People generally want the best for the least amount of money. That is why most people will bash Alienware. While you get support in a closed of forum like this because the people you find in this forum do cherish the great warranty.

That is my take on this

I do not want to see the costs Dell would cut to price Alienwares the same as Clevos and MSIs.

Even now, the only real advantage is the warranty.

Alienware is not overpriced if you WAIT for the discounts. I got my system in my sig w/ 1 year accidental warranty for a measly 1550 including tax. Thats is not overpriced at ALL. You just have to be aware of discounts and be patient for them to arrive.

Razer/Apple are REALLY overpriced, not Alienware.

I know right. I tell them if they haven't owned one they don't have the right to say so. It's just jealousy. They don't have the money, they can't handle that. Although everyone in real life that I met thought it was awesome.

I had a clevo for 1 year and a friend has a clevo also. So here are the advantages of Alienware:

    -Better warranty
    -WAY better cooling/less noise
    -Less driver issues
    -Longer battery life
    -A great screen
    (-looks awesome)

    disadvantages:

    -expensive
-glare screen (soon going to be fixed with the new model! :D )
    -slotload dvddrive
    (-looks gimmicky, flashy)
-impossible to replace ONLY the screen for a non original better panel

If someone is putting a gun to your head forcing you to go on Reddit and discuss your AW, I recommend you dial 911 instead of post here :). If not, then you might be a masochist and probably need further tests.

    1St - AW Rulez.
    2Nd- Apple sucks

AW is overpriced ? And what is apple doing ?
Configure a powerful mac and configure powerful AW, the price ratio is gonna be like 3:1 in favor of AW. And guess what, there still are FOOLS who buy ''i'' things.

Anyways, it all comes down to-> Do you like it ? YES ? HEADS UP and KEEP IT !

That's strange. When I originally was looking for a system, I had the same mentality that AW was just too expensive. Cool, but expensive. I was looking at all the Clevo systems and comparing the prices. Just for the hell of it, I went and configured the exact same system through AW and to my surprise I saved $500 going with AW.

I guess if you don't know how to call and haggle with a sales rep, or can't search for coupon codes posted online, then yes, you might spend a little more. $500 more for an AW over a Clevo, I believe it if you opted for all the top specs on the AW and lower end specs on the Clevo.

The days of AW being way overpriced compared to other gaming systems is in the past. Just know when to buy and do your best at working the sales rep. People complain about AW/Dells customer service, but I've never heard of someone buying a Clevo and getting upgraded to the newest system within their warranty. Plus, if you live outside of the US (or wherever your Clevo got built), good luck with getting warranty service done without paying for shipping, or having a tech come out and try to fix your system (yes, I did say try).

To the OP, just stop posting about your system if you can't handle people hating. I knew well ahead that there was hate in the world for AW. People are going to hate on anything. Let's say you own a Lamborghini. People will hate on you saying you're overcompensating for something, or you're just wasting your money, or you should have bought a Ferrari because they're better. I say if you can afford one, then buy what you want. F*** what others say. I could care less what people think. If I'm happy with my AW, then so be it. Just enjoy your system and don't put too much into what others think. If you do that, you might as well just stay inside at all times and don't even go on the internet.

I'm sorry you couldn't see any humor in the original post (even with the :)), but I guess you haven't been in a very fun place lately. Though it's by your own choosing, and that's the point.

With a response like that however, I have to turn that question on you, why stick around somewhere getting bashed with useless hate when you don't have to (re: masochist, the word is not solely sexual in use). Then you want to fire up a couple of threads about it (that I know of) here to stir up the counter side (re: attention). I hope you can get past it all, nobody's opinions are worth it, including this one.

Alienware will always be seen as an expensive brand - much like Razer's new line of laptops and such. Although Razer is much more expensive than Alienware in many regards...

The bottom line is that most of these haters are desktop users that claim to have built top-end gaming rigs for 500 bucks and some duct tape. They're full of . You can't build a *nice* desktop, including high end monitor and keyboard, for 500 bucks... you just can't. They love to trot this dead horse out on every comment section where Alienware comes up, and it falls flat on its face every time.

Anything you buy or spend money on, someone will ultimately criticize. It all boils down to your own preferences and economic situation... If you can afford an Alienware and want one, go for it. I love the Alienware brand and will continue to buy Alienware machines for every upgrade I do.

I know people that spend thousands of dollars on stamp collections, pocket knives, luxury cars, books... Everyone can choose how they wanna spend their money. That's one of the few freedoms that human beings have.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @ "...desktop users that claim to have built top-end gaming rigs for 500 bucks and some duct tape".

OP, people hate just to be hating. I tried Sager and Clevo.... sucked camel balls in regards to what you receive with Alienware! And those would be trolls that own a desktop and try to compare desktop gaming to mobile gaming rigs are idiots, so don't feed the trolls (just like the warning you see at the zoo... there for a reason!). There's literally no other company that can delivery what you receive with Alienware :) And if a troll dares to mention Asus ROG... you digitally donkey punch those idiots :D I do not need to elaborate about the vast differences.

On another note, I am looking at this new market, the small form factor rigs (see X51) that are about the size of a home gaming console.

    Regards
