okay so let me start by saying i screwed up my rig by doing a bad video card driver install sequence, which progressively got worse as i tried to fix it, which lead me to re-spawning my system back to factory.

here is exacly how it happens every time i start my computer:

    POWER OFF
    press power button
keyboard lights up, fans turn on, screen stays flat black (no backlight)
try to force shut off, doesn't work (hold down power button) or sometimes works and goes in what appears to be sleep mode (kb lights shut off, power button stays light and pulsing)
pull out battery and unplug system to get it to shut off
plug back in and battery back in
    power on
boots normal and no error messages or asking for safe mode

this happens the same way but while in sleep mode, just substitute POWER OFF for SLEEP MODE (with the exception of when it powers on normally it askes if i want to start from scratch or resume from saved point).

i dont understand, it didnt do this when i got it, and everything is back to factory settings (except i updated to 10.11 drivers, but it did this with stock dell drivers, and the newest dell drivers)

i'm running Bios A09 and the vBios is updated also.

    please help :(

i thought i should also mention that before when i restarted my computer the keyboard lights would never shut off, but the screen would before it started up again. now every time i click restart the computer shuts itself off completely (like where you can hear the power going off, and hear the dvd slotload resetting itself when it turns on again.) and then goes into the problem stated above when it tries to turn on again.

I would see if i could restart in safe mode and restore to a point before you messed with the drivers....should put you back to square one....if that dont work....clean install of OS and drivers.....if that dont work...hardware problems?

well i did a respawn that set my rig back to factory out of the box state (except the bios and vbios updates). it was having this issue before i did the respawn and now after the respawn as well. must be hardware. i guess i'll call AW tech and ask them about it.

you can always try to download and install any updated chipset drivers from Dells site, and of course the latest GPU drivers

Try reflash the BIOS still using A09?

reinstalling chipset drivers, and re-flashing the bios didn't change anything, and i have 10.11 drivers which should be fine. but it did the same thing with the factory dell drivers, and the newest dell drivers also.
