    Hello,

So my computer has been doing weird things for a while regarding the battery. I have certain power settings set when the battery gets low when unplugged, but my computer does not adhere to them.

When my battery is low (10%) it's not supposed to turn off and at critical (5%) it's suppose to go into Hibernation mode. My computer does neither, and at ~20% my computer goes into critical battery mode (Power led blinking) and force shuts down a few seconds later. I can not turn my computer back on after this.

I only had my computer for a little over a year so I don't believe it's the actual battery. I have not updated anything recently so I am not sure if this was a common problem or a hardware/software issue.

Seems like you just need to change the power settings to your liking:

When the computer shuts down, you need to plug it in before being able to start it up again. That's just how it works.

It is possible that the battery is failing and not advertising the correct charge level as well. It may think it is at 20% but then suddenly run out of power and there in lies the shut down. Have you run diagnostics on the machine? That will tell you what your battery health is at.
