I just bought a m17x off a guy and when I turn it on I get a power supply warning that says that the power adapter is less that the original unit and my battery may not charge and it puts the lappy in stealth mode or something of the sort. The battery is not charging its at 0% . The power supply that I have is a 240 watt Delta brick that from what I can tell comes with the unit so I assume that the pack is bad and I need to get a new one. I am having a problem finding a replacement unit and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as far as brand goes and maybe link me to the site or order page. Also, if someone dosent think that the pack is the issue that would also be great to know. Any info would be great I would love to be able to move around with this laptop and right now with the battery not charging or if I move the cord funny it shuts down.
    Thanks for your time

You can try a reset, Remove the power, Battery and hold the power button down for about 20 seconds, and try again

You may have an issue with the charger or the DC connector on the M17x

can you see if the DC jack is loose ?

    What BIOS are you running?

and last what does the BIOS say about the adaptor ?

Ive tried the reset with no luck

The bios dosent show the power adapter its blank

Bios is A4 which I just changed today from A0 which was on it when purchased
(ac adapter was blank in A0 also)

The only thing I notice is the end of the cord when moved around will light up.....I tried to charge last night with the cord lit but still had no battery this mourning and same warning

If you ment the DC on the lappy its self is loose I am not sure how to check

    Thanks

Bad power supply if you are wiggling it and it is lighting up and going out if not wiggling it. Its not the motherboard as the adapter should light up regardless if plugged in or not.

Suggest order a new PSU straight from Dell or if the unit has warranty (maybe not - sounds like a M17xR1), transfer the warranty and ownership to you. See: Dell - Ownership Transfers

If still under warranty, suggest extending warranty once ownership is moved to you. See: Dell - Dell Services Store - Public Sector
