I cannot get my Alienware 17 to recognize the power adapter that came with it. It still powers it but does not charge it. Can someone please advise?
Thanks![]()

I did take the battery out for 30 minutes and that didn't help.

Chances are the wire in the sheath that carries the signal informing the laptop that is a verified Dell adapter has been damaged and the laptop no longer recognizes the adapter as an official dell adapter. The adapters are stupidly fragile if you wrap the cord around the brick or tug on the cord at all. I have gone through several adapters due to them failing in this manor before I realised what was causing the issue. My current one is holing up well but I treat it like a piece of fine china so that the cord takes absolutely no unnecessary strain.

Go to his profile, click on information and then "start a conversation". It's a bit convoluted really.

Yeah that is what I did, wasn't sure that was what he meant, but thanks.

Yes before the recent migration it was a "private message"

I ordered a new 330w power adapter so I could use it for both laptops.
Power adapter problems.
