Pretty soon I will be moving into a relatively dusty/unclean shared environment (ahem college) and I would like some insight on how other enthusiasts take care of their beloved M17x. Previously, when I neglect to clean my living space well enough during busy times, I managed to cause heat issues on my old laptop every other week (requiring me to blow out the insides frequently). Now, I'd rather not go through so many cans of air. Does anyone have tips for keeping dust out of the ports? I remember the nylon cloth bag I got when my R4 arrived to me. Should I bag my R4 whenever it's not in use?

Also, any tips for cleaning the rubber finish? It's like a dust magnet. I heard most sanitizing wipes ruin the finish, so should I stick to a dilute alcohol/water mix to sanitize it?

Any insights into cleaning an Alienware are welcome. I love tips of any kind because they end up saving me tons of time and thought. :)

Instead of using can air you could try a vacuum, I clean my machine every two weeks cause of all the cat air.

That's a decent idea. Too bad for me, the good ones dedicated to electronics are a tad bit expensive though.

I use my household vaccum blower side, I hold the fan tight for safety measures(so it don't kill the fan) . The vacuum side don't do much.
