So...weird problem. I have my m17x hooked up to my LN46B630 Samsung...and I was trying to watch a blu-ray (Percy Jackon and the Olympians) and I get sound during previews only...and at main menu.
But first off, the sound seems to not by synched, seems to be a split second off.
Second problem is that as soon as the main feature begins, I hear a BZZ noise and I get no audio. Now I had full audio during previews, during menu, and everything, but main movie gets nothing.
Anyone have this issue before?

I had a similar issue yesterday with my system, the problem was that CCC and the ATi drivers weren't correctly installed from the factory. I had to fully uninstall the whole package(including HDMI drivers) use driver sweeper and then reinstall. It fixed that part of my problem for me.

Yeesh, I will go for it but that's a real pain.
I also noticed today that it seems like the graphics cards are bum or the drivers are...it froze up entirely several times and BSOD on me while playing WoW and gave me a video something error message. -

Mine did similar things to me on that count too, as well as corrupt all of the colors in the windows after trying to change my Windows theme. Had to call tech support to find out what the heck it was. It may be a pain but it worked and is worth a try if it means a fixed computer.

I'm saddened that I'm now on my FOURTH replacement computer and they still can't seem to send me one that works right....hopefully these steps will fix it or I think I may be done with Alienware.

I had a similar problem when I upgraded to a full version of PowerDVD on my desktop. The newer version did not clean install and the older version corrupted. It took many install and reinstalls of PowerDVD and much registry cleaning in order to fix.
Here is the PowerDVD help page:
CyberLink Blu-ray Disc Support
Have you tried to run any other software like Roxio or Catalyst or Antivirus software?
P.S. You could try to update the PowerDVD software to make sure you have the lastes BD firmware. You do this through the wrench/screwdriver icon on the main menu of PowerDVD. -
I have a replacement M17x R1 that has been working well for two or three months, but just started periodically going black. No BSOD, just sudden screen to black. Hard shutdown and reboot brings system back for a while. I'm assuming video card issue (260M). Any known software issues that might cause this, or should I just call Dell and get the card replaced?

Ended up having to send this one back too. Not only was I never able to fix the sound output despite doing basically everything you guys suggested, but the video output began to go too. It would flicker to the display, then flicker to static and continually do this back and forth.

Sorry to hear it, maybe they'll get their QC right one of these days.
